Book Description

1 May 1998 Star Trek (Unnumbered Audio) (Book 2)
William Shatner has once again brought his unique blend of talents as actor, writer, director, and producer to continue the saga of Jim Kirk's remarkable second life, as an insidious menace from his past threatens a new generation of heroes...

Retired and in a happy relationship, Kirk believes his adventuring days are over. But as he returns to Earth for the first time since his apparent "death" upon the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-B, events elsewhere in the galaxy set in motion a mystery that may provide Kirk with his greatest challenge yet.

The Enterprise-E, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, is exploring an unstable region of space on a mission of vital concern to Starfleet when they discover the last thing they ever expected to find: a battle-scarred vessel that is instantly recognizable to every member of Picard's crew. Five years after being presumed lost, the Starship Voyager has come home!

The commander of Voyager, Tom Paris, explains that Captain Kathryn Janeway and half the original crew is dead, but if that is true, who is the mysterious woman who has kidnapped Kirk back on Earth, demanding that he assist her against a threat to the entire Federation? All is not as it seems, and soon Kirk is forced to confront the consequences of actions taken thirty years before, as well a his own inner doubts.

An unforgettable saga peopled by old friends and ancient enemies, "Star Trek: Spectre" propels Kirk on a journey of self-discovery every bit as harrowing as the cataclysmic new adventure that awaits him.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great "reflection" of KIRK 25 Aug 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
This is the best I have read. Shatner portrays Kirk in a different light and has scratched away the surface to reveal that he may be a hero, Kirk is only mortal( even though he died and came back to life). He has managed to combine all four generations. DS9 appears in book 2 Dark Victory.

5.0 out of 5 stars another Shatner page-turner 5 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
One of the most disapointing movies was Generations. The idea of bringing Kirk and Picard together had the potential to be the best Trek movie. Generations fell short.

Shatner to the rescue! His books, which take place after Generations are all wonderfull, and Spectre is no exception. This is how Picard and Kirk were meant to be together--and now, not only them, but other famous characters as well.

Any Trek fan will love this book, and not be able to put it down. If only they made Shatner's books into movies . . .

William Shatner is back as Captain Kirk and how wonderful it is to see the man who knows him best write about him. I loved this novel not only does it continue the mirror universe saga but it also gives an insight to Kirk that the sreenwriters never gave - a sinister side which appears when it is clear he will do anything to save his one true love Teilani. Shatner excellently balances the just Kirk on a just mission with his counterpart the evil Tiberius who is it seems is everything Kirk is not or is he? A love story crossed with a deep conspiracy story all upon the vast galaxy. Kirks conscience has never been tested so much bring on the final part!!!!!...
