5.0 out of 5 stars Good Phone for price 20 Sep 2012
By martin
Colour Name:Black
Phone arrived from China 8 days after order. Well done Dracotek. Finish is good although the back is a little tricky to remove if you have to. Box contains 2 batteries but you only need one as battery life is very good. Response is good with limited ram so a memory manager app is useful. Takes up to 32 Gig micro sd but you really don't need it unless you have lots of media files. Dual sim is useful if you have a payg sim in support. Screen is nice and clear and large (like the note) GPS is responsive and works well with maps etc.

This isn't a replica because there are design differences, such as switches in different locations and a less hi-tech (but extremely clear) display, but to all intents and purposes it's the same phone as Sam sells.

Of course, it's not locked and dual-sim, so in some ways it has advantages. You get an un-skinned version of Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) which some (including me) would argue is better than having manufacture specific customisation and a pile of unnecessary apps rooted on the phone. A quick trip the the GooglePlay and for a few pounds you have your own choice of the few freebees the big names provide.

One small nuisance is its Chinese origins. It boots up with enough English to cause no problems, but you need to change keyboard, timezone and weather settings to here.

I had no problems moving my contract SIM (Virgin Media/EE). It connected both number and data with no action at all needed by me. It joined my home wifi network without a hitch. Android allows the phone to become a wifi hotspot to allow use of a PC/Mac/iPad across your cell link. 60 seconds of easy settings; et voilà, I've got an iPad with cellular service (that saves £100 on Apple hardware!)

What I also wanted was compatibility with Apple iCloud services, and yes, I got what I wanted. GooglePlay sells 2 app by Smoothsync (total cost ~£4.75) that seemlessly and perfectly link my contacts and calendar to the on-phone apps. A Google search found me the perfect settings for my iCloud email. iTunes sync - why bother? The phone plugs into the computers USB slot and you can drag and drop music, photos and video in either direction (to the correct folders, named difficultly: music, photos, videos!!) and when unplugged, the phone's native apps (somehow) simply finds them.

4.0 out of 5 stars N8000 - Galaxy Note alternative 10 Oct 2012
Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
A problem I have always had is that not only do I have a personal phone I also have one for work. As a result I tend to have not only bulging pockets but also double jeopardy when it comes to losing my phone. In the past I have tried dual sim adaptors but these have either not worked or I have damaged my sim cards trying to get them to fit. A phone with dedicated dual sim functionality seemed the best way to go.

On first seeing this phone I dismissed it due to the low price - considering the specification you would expect to pay well over £200 on the high street. After failing to find an equivalent phone with the dual sim functionality I came back to this phone and decided to risk it.

I have to say that one month in I am extremely impressed. The dual sim functionality is exactly what I was after - no rebooting to switch sims and I can specify which contact uses which sim card. Configuration of the dual sim was a doddle and took me all of 30 seconds. Data can also be linked to a single sim card if required as well.

As to the phones other capabilities my admiration grows:

* Screen is very bright and clear
* Multitouch screen is very responsive.
* Call quality is great
* Reception has been impeccable - even on top of a mountain which was a surprise.
* The processor easily handles Ice Cream Sandwich and any app/game I have thrown at it

I would say that the only criticism I have is with the power button which has started to stick a little when pressed. Not the end of the world but a situation I will be monitoring.

Also the analogue TV function is useless in the UK due to the digital switch over (but it does make an interesting talking point!). Maybe of use when going abroad...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great smart phone with one fundamental problem 11 Nov 2012
By Markm0
Colour Name:Black|Verified Purchase
This item arrived 7 days after order, from China, very impressive.
This is a great smart phone for the price but the one thing that lets it down is, there is no gyro sensor. It does not support or have a gyro sensor. This means that apps like compass, navigation (sat nav) will not work properly as the phone does not know which direction North is. It is a shame because I really like the phone as it does more things, quick and better than any iphone can. I have swayed many iphone users with this phone, wishing they hadn't spent so much money on an iphone. I must admit the iphone does come in a nice box though.
If you struggle with screen phones this phone is definitely for you with it's very clear display and very responsive screen. I normally wear glasses for reading but I don't need to wear them using this phone. It's great for games as well.
For the money, I would recommend this phone even without the gyro sensor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly BIG but it grew on me :) 30 Sep 2012

How did I miss the point about the 5-INCH SCREEN I do not know. It surely gave me a big shock as I was expecting a standard size phone. As many may have done I trawled through reviews (which weren't many) and looked at a youtube link that gave me a good idea of how it looked and worked (still don't know how I missed the point about the size). I emailed Draco Tek who clarified that the product was coming from China and that no hidden charges would be incurred as was one of my fears from and previous review.

So said so done it arrived in style with x2 batteries in tow, x1 head set, x1 head phones,x1 two pronged charger with adaptor,a case, mem card.. everything that was described (hopefully I didn't miss anything)

One of the batteries was not working but I a replacement is on its was no fuss.

Like I said, itz HUGE... not really a device I can use discreetly, BUT it is growing on me. It is easy to navigate on (just need to stop pinching and spreading fingers on screen to maximise and minimise. Just a simple two taps does that. Itz already enlaged anyway.. not like you'll want to go much larger very often.

The keypad was atrocious. No predictive text.. what a pain. But I downloaded Swiftkey3 and now everything is a dream! No more complaints.

It navigates quickly and loads pages in seconds.

Only issue is that once on a call all data programs seems to come to a halt. Didn't notice this issue on my previous phone. Possibly a network issue as opp to a phone related issue.

Both my Virgin and overseas sims work a treat. I upgraded my memory form 16GB to 32GB.

All in all... I'm finding much advantages to this phone that is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note at a fraction of the cost! Front and back cams are great!
