The legendary Japanese anime. Its popularity is only match by Gundam and Macross. If you love space science fiction, then this is truely collectible item for you. Myself, I rate Yamato higher than "Star Trak" or even "Star Wars". Just don't be put off by the dated animation.

"The Quest for Iscandar" is the first of Yamato series. It introduce you to all main charactors. Buy it! It well worth every penny!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Star Trek 12 Aug 2000
Format:DVD
Originally known as Space Battleship Yamato in Japan, this series was launched in the 70's and is matched in popularity only by Gundam and Macross. Even though the animation is a bit crude and ancient, the storyline holds well, this DVD contains the first 5 episodes of the first series. I've always enjoyed Yamato and prefer it to Star Trek, this is an excellent introduction to the series. It introduces all of the main characters, the Yamato, the Wave Motion Gun and the Yamato's Warp System. Also it includes one of the biggest bloopers in the overall series. An blooper that lasts through the entire disc! I am of course referring to the Gamilons skin colour and seasoned Yamato fans will know what I am talking about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great animated saga! 13 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:DVD
Born as Yamato in honor of the famous Japanese ship and taken as a symbol of hope and resurrection. Starblazers is one of the greatest Japanese animations of all time. Wonderful. Great drawings, very "anime style", moving at times, packed with action... a true masterpiece!
