Product Description

Stanley Stickle hates homework and he'll do almost anything to get out of it.

In this, the first short book in the series, Stanley gets a shock when he discovers that every pupil in the school is to be given EXTRA homework in preparation for the BIG TEST. Stanley is appalled at this assault on his human rights and will do just about anything to avoid the extra work. Stanley thinks up a cunning plan, a master plan, the best plan that anyone ever planned...ever. Only it doesn't quite work, so it's on to Plan B... then Plan C...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read 26 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is a fun read for children of all ages. I'm not in the target age group but my children are. The book made me laugh and I think it will be of great interest to readers who enjoy Horrid Henry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read for All 10 Jun 2012

Oh how my children related to this book. If Stanley Stickle put as much time into doing his homework as he did avoiding it he would be top of the class! How many of us can relate to the homework battles faced by childrena nd parents alike. My reluctant reader certainly related to this story and enjoyed reading it.

Aimed at children, but enjoyed by adults as well, this book is well written and fast moving, lifelike, funny and definately recommended!

I loved this! I'm definitely not in the target age range for it but it was nevertheless a really fun, pacy read and what a character Stanley is. You can't help liking him while knowing that things might not work out quite the way he planned. I chuckled at his manoeuvring to try and get ill so he could avoid extra homework and the Big Test and, as with all of Trevor's books, he injects a good dose of humour into the story with an incredibly deft touch. The Kiss scene had me laughing and squirming simultaneously, especially when Stanley had been thinking of the other things he'd rather do than kiss Soppy Sonia or be her boyfriend! This is a terrific, fun read for kids of all ages.
