This Glue Gun is generally very good. It does still have some room for improvement though. A longer power cord would be useful if you are working on something you cannot bring nearer to the power socket and you do not have an extension lead.Other than that, just switch on, wait 5 to 10 minutes to heat up after setting on either high or low; depending on whether you are gluing wood, metal, plastic, fabric etc. Keep the glue gun plugged in the power socket for continuous use, its quite simple; you just squeeze the glue out onto whatever you are gluing, and apply some pressure, compressing the two objects (that you wish to stick together) closer together. Allow about 10-20 minutes for the glue to cool down and set. Once the glue has set; it becomes tough solid plastic, holding things together very tightly.

I personally used this for a variety of things, from electronics course project to covering up mouse holes at home (there's a huge mice problem in birmingham, they're everywhere, hense the longer power cord). Anyway, I would have given this product a five star, because it is by far, the very best glue gun I've ever purchased, it would have a five star from me if it had another meter and a half of power cord. I know that's a bit strict, but it does cost extra to buy extension power cables/leads. This still gets a four star.

I am a crafter so use hot glue nearly every day. I have had numerous glue guns and this is by far the best! Unlike any other I have had, the glue does not drip out when not being used. And I LOVE the 2 settings. Don't hesitate, just buy it.

If like me you do some DIY then you will find that this glue gun will be very useful. It feels good, solid and well made. I have in the past bought the cheaper guns but they do not last that long and as I have said this feels well made. It has two heat settings low and high and with the correct glue stick this should cover any glue job you may come across. Last night my son came home from work with his bag which the leather strap had broken 10 minutes later and it was as good as new.

***UPDATED 15th September 2012***
Upgraded to 5 stars due to the versatility of glue guns in general. Latest repairs include the 'flapping' sole of a pair of carpet slippers - great result; found it best to apply liberally/generously and work fast to get good adhesion. That cost me one glue stick (about 17 pence for Stanley, or about 10p for Silverline). Any excess/outflow can be neatly trimmed of with a sharp craft knife. Also repaired an exercise bench, the plastic end caps kept popping out - not any more! Be careful to avoid contact with hot glue oozzing out of a repair job. Regarding the inadequate stand, the base of the stand could be made wider/more stable by hot gluing a suitable piece of plastic to it.

Original Review:
Feels well made, heats up within the 3 to 6 minutes stated in the instructions, quite controllable flowrate of hot glue. The end nozzle is covered with a heat resistant thermally insulating material (maybe PTFE?) presumably to help prevent burning your hand. Dribbles a few beads of glue from the end nozzle when resting on the stand, but not excessively. Put it to use straight away to a) help secure/prevent wobble where wooden handle enters a plastic snow shovel, b) help secure/prevent wobble where wooden handle enters a broom, c) repair an RC model, d) help secure low voltage wiring inside a RC model (first tested to ensure does not damage the insulation).

The declared wattage (power) is somewhat confusing. The Amazon description states 40W, however if you look at the photograph, it says 80W on the side of the gun. OK you say 40W low, 80W high .....that's what I thought. However, on the other side of the gun itself it actually states 25W? Anyway, it works well enough (I only tried it on the High Power setting).

Looses one star due to the inadequate stand, which is not really wide enough to hold the gun securely in the upright position. Also the mains lead is a bit too short.

Never had a glue gun before so nothing to compare it with. It glues most things realy well such that I keep looking for broken things to mend. Very satisfying!!

I recently aquired a new bookcase. Unfortunately wasn't very good, it was falling apart, but I used the glue gun on it, and now I have the best bookcase ever. It won't come apart anytime soon I can tell u that. This product works.

This is a great little gun, easy to use, and doesn't, like others I have used, dribble when I set it aside. Spot gluing is a cinch, and long continuous runs no problem at all. Certainly recommended

Firstly the glue this gun takes is a standard size so no one should have any problems sourcing it, its the larger of the two standard sizes.
This gun is well made and heats up reasonably quickly.
My previous glue gun broke because of a flimsy trigger mechanism but this feels very robust and i'm sure will last ages
100% recommend
