2.0 out of 5 stars Poor longevity 7 Mar 2010
I had one of these for a couple of years, only got to use it three times before it broke. The single pinion design seemed to be the cause of the problem. Rotating the drill handle in normal use had caused the pinion to go out of synch, causing the mechanism to to grind. Red paint had scraped off onto the mechanism causing frequent jams. This was possibly due to the build quality of the drill, which eventually went in the bin.

I was expecting more from the Stanley brand, and am now looking for a better quality doublie pinion hand drill.

5.0 out of 5 stars Right for the job 4 May 2009

I had one of these drills for many years but lost it during a house removal. I am delighted to have its replacement. The drill is sturdy, not too heavy, easy to turn and not too long in the body.

The chuck grips nicely, even with tiny drill bits (I use it for silver-work) and the action is smooth. Just what I'd hoped for.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful.... Comes to bits 8 Jan 2011
Verified Purchase
The chuck and small bevel are just a push fit to the main pillar. If the drill gets stuck: the small bevel gear always rises up over and below the large gear and the lower piece of the drill just comes out of its socket. Sometimes jamming a finger en route. It is quite hard to push it back together again as the bevel has to be eased over the flange of the large gear. The good thing about this drill is that has a chuck large enough to accept those larger electric drill bits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great size for kids. :) 15 Oct 2012

This product came exactly as described and is the perfect size for kids little hands.
They love having real (grown up) equipment to work with and it has been a great addition to our wood work bench in the nursery I work in. The kids love being hands on and in control of a drill.
Great packaging and sent on time.
Thanks :)
