The Stanley Works, originally a bolt and door hardware manufacturing company located in New Britain, Connecticut; was founded in 1843 by Frederick T. Stanley. A few years later, in 1857, Frederick s cousin, Henry Stanley, founded The Stanley Rule and Level Company. In 1920, The Rule and Level Company merged with The Stanley Works and would go on to become it s famous Hand Tools Division.

From the timeless Classic 199 "Stanley Knife", a design icon of the 20th century, to the new range of "FatMax" hand tools, innovation and quality are synonymous with the Stanley name. Stanley is the number one brand for tools - demanded for their performance by professionals, enthusiasts and DIYers alike.

Stanley in the 21st century is much more than just knives. In addition to the world famous hand tools, the Stanley range now includes paint brushes and rollers, sliding doors, pneumatic fastening solutions and mechanics' tools.

Delivery was fast and packaging fine and price (here) competitive.

Its strong and simply made and the 2 metal clasps are great as it keeps it shut (previous tool boxes I have had, had plastic catches which broke or didn't latch properly). Perfect for tidying up random tools at home.

As described it has two removable sections or "organisers" and these are great for all those random screws, nails and random bits and pieces. There is also a fixed section which takes screwdriver bits, as well as a removable tray.

Dimensions (measure carefully but after a cold pint on a hot day) are as follows:

49cm long x 27.5cm wide x 23.5cm high

Internal space is:

41.25cm long x 20.5cm wide The free space height (i.e. under the useful tray (which takes a fair number of tools, screwdrivers etc is about 13cm.

Oh and the screw-bit organiser holds 20 in two rows of ten.

All-in-all its a good, basic box for storing the random selection of hammers and screwdrivers and junk. I would probably have bought a bigger one but this fitted the space I had in the cupboard lol

We got this toolbox for my husband for Christmas and he loves it! It's very roomy and the little storage spaces in the lid are very handy for bits and other small items.

Good, sturdy beast, with plenty of 'boot' space for the larger tools (especially those with awkward shapes) and plenty of separate compartments for nuts, bolts, tape measure etc.
The two opening latches ensure it doesn't fly open and shed everything.
Only snag (but you soon learn) is that because the whole lid section (i.e. the yellow part as opposed to the black part - and the inner trays attached to it) can store a substantial amount of stuff, everything flies out if you let it flip back when you open it. So just use some common sense and EASE IT GENTLY BACK to the ground.
Other thing: if you go for anything bigger, your arm will drop off with the weight of your tools and you'll never DIY again.

I needed a couple of straight-forward toolboxes with no particular frills - one for some remote property renovation work & another for a few car maintenance tools, when fixing a friends car at another property. I have read some of the reviews & I did not expect my pet elephant to be able to stand on a lump of plastic that cost £10, or that the catches would not last out the next century or so, but these toolboxes are such great value for money I bought another two of them.

The Stanley toolbox is very robust and has plenty of storage space. The storage lids on the top of the box are useful for screws, nails and items like that and when you open the box to access any tools the lids don't seem as though they are about to spill all those screws and nails etc over the floor! Below the lift out shelf there is plenty of space to store a lot of tools. Compared to many other boxes I have looked at this is by far the best and at a very good price.Stanley 1-92-906 Jumbo Toolbox 19 Inch + Tray

If you want a box (as a replacement for a bag) to just store your tools in, then this is adequate. However, build quality isn't fantastic and this box will not survive regular usage and rough handling. So if you regularly do DIY or are a tradesman, then this toolbox definitely isn't for you.

The handyboxes on the lid are flimsily attached so you need to be careful to re-attach and close properly, otherwise they will fall off every time the lid is opened.

Overall, just about better than a bag.

I try and buy only Stanley tools and accessories because of their excellent quality. This toolbox is no differen: Plenthy of space, sturdy design and great quality metal clasps to close the lid. Mine has virtually all my tools and bits 'n pieces in it but I never worry about it breaking on me. Highly recommended.
