of Secrets'. Read them both!

Product Description

Grace is a kitchen-maid but, unlike her mother, Polly, she doesn't enjoy life inside the house - she'd much rather be working out in the stables with the horses. Cricket teas and shooting-party luncheons will soon become a distant memory, however. It's 1914 and war is about to turn the country upside down. Tragedy comes to Swallowcliffe Hall, and life there changes more dramatically than anyone could ever have imagined. Amid all the turmoil, Grace discovers a dark family secret that has been hidden for years. Learning the truth brings its own heartache, and now she faces a new challenge. Is she brave enough to step out of the shadows and claim her rightful place in this dangerous new world?

I thoroughly enjoyed these three books. They follow the fortunes of three genearations of two families - owners and servants at Swallowcliffe Hall. What I found particularly good was that each book has a very different voice, according to the character of the narrator. Really, an excellent read!

This book is the sequel to 'House of Secrets' and it is about a maid at Swallowcliffe Hall, who is called Grace. Unlike her mother Olive, Grace hates her work. She adores horses, so she decides to work in the Swallowcliffe Hall stables with her father. She discovers a hidden secret...

I loved this book because it takes you back in time to the Second World War and tells you about the lives of servants. This is a very imaginative book and Jennie Walters has written it well.
