Having only been diagnosed with what my neurologist described as 'extreme relpsing/remitting multiple sclerosis' a period of a month before, I purchased this because I used to practise various martial arts when fully fit. It was, however, somewhat a novelty for me to attempt a softer form than my previous endeavours.
To my surprise (and relief) I found that within approximately three weeks of attempting the exercises shown on this tape the involuntary muscle spasms I had been experiencing had virtually disappeared. I am not claiming these exercises will cure anybody else's particular ills, but that is why I have used the title I have.

Back when these were shown on Channel 4 almost 15 years ago, I only tried the postures for the 5 minutes shown in the episodes. Now that I have the actual tape, I've suddenly found that just increasing to 10 minutes is very difficult at first! Pretty much every other form of exercise bores me quite quickly, so it's nice to have this mixture of focus, effort and meditation that lets you build stamina without movement. Oh, and my order arrived with a DVD copy - letting me watch it without having to mess around finding a VHS player.

Wonderful! 8 Feb 2005
By Atheana
I'm not usually into these 'exercise videos' - but this was recommended to me and I can genuinely say that it was a very worthwhile recommendation. The presenter 'talks' to the viewer in a way you can relate; the actual video itself is interesting - with others who practice giving their views on how they find it, the scenery in the video (mostly of China) is beautiful and the exercises themselves - while tough to start with - grow on you and believe it or not, leave you feeling rather good about yourself. Standing still for anywhere from 5 to 25 minutes may sound easy - but when you do so with your knees bent and arms outstretched for a period of time - well, you can see where the word 'exercise' comes into play. The trick is not to do what I did - go whole hog the first time you watch it! Take 5 minutes at a time (daily) with one position a week and build yourself up to the ultimate ... 25-30 minutes. It relaxes the mind, leaves you feeling you actually DID something, and if the authors are to be believed, is good for your inner strength and health.
