5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive Battlefield Band 5 Dec 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is arguably the best ever Battlefield album. First released in 1979, Stand Easy stands the test of time. It marks the development of the band's groundbreaking and innovative approach to Scottish traditional music - a recipe that the current line-up still uses.
The only album with the potent combination of Jenny Clark on vocals and blistering instrumentals (hear the dulcimer like you've never heard it before), fiddle virtuoso Brian McNeil, piping phenomenon Duncan MacGillivray and superbly sensitive keyboard backing and vocals by Alan Reid.
Not only did this foursome blast their way to international acclaim in the late seventies, their incredible arrangements stand the test of time (check the John D Burgess set). This work has not been surpassed in the twenty something years since it's release.
Buy the album, it's a classic.

3.0 out of 5 stars The memory is better than the reality 31 July 2014
By Fred B. Goldstein - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This was the first Battlefield Band album I bought way back before CD's, and It enchanted me, especially the bagpipe. Since then, I've bought many other of their albums, and have seen them in concert many times. After listening to Stand Easy again after all these years, I realized that "you can't go home again" as the old saying goes. This album is still okay, but it doesn't give me the spark it once did.
