As a fan of the film i had to buy this. The songs are short, but each one a joy to listen to. It has been recorded to preserve - very well - the sound of the original recording, which take you back to when the songs first came out. A real mood lifter with songs such as 'Great Balls Of Fire' and 'Lollipop,' and one of the greatest songs ever released; 'Stand By Me' by Ben E. King. A most have for fans of the film.

At 23 minutes and 29 seconds the "Stand By Me" sountrack has got to be the shortest one in the history of the word. But that does not take away from the fact that this is a wonderful collection, perfectly evocative of the Rob Reiner film adapted from a Stephen King novella. This soundtrack mixes not only classic 1950's rock 'n' roll, from Ben E. King's classic title track to Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" and "Yakety Yak" by The Coasters, but lesser known hits like "Get a Job" by The Silhouettes and "Lollipop" by The Chordettes. The biggest difference between this soundtrack and more traditional greatest hits collections, is that listening to "Stand By Me" will always remind you of how much you love the film, which means that despite its modest length it fulfills its job perfectly.

Maybe its the film that does it, teamed with this 50's music but when I listen to this soundtrack, i'm transported back to a time of playing as a child, with my friends, who, were going to be freinds forever! This is what listening to this soundtrack will do for you. If you loved the film, its a must, but the actual music itself cannot be dismissed. Classics of course, such as Ben E King, Lollipop, Great Balls Of Fire, will have your feet tapping away, as you remember them great years!

Cult OST - brilliant!
