Whatever happened to this magnificent album? It was released on Columbia at the beginning of the '60s and has since dropped out of sight. Those who treasure Tracey's staggeringly beautiful solo freestyle playing, without any percussion or bass support, will find a whole collection in which to immerse themselves and play repeatedly. Is there any chance of this being re-released, this time on CD?
I have loved this album since I found a copy in Birmingham's Diskery in 1978 and think a reissue, perhaps with the equally fine 'Perspectives' trio album, would be a great idea. From a conversation I had with him though I got the impression that Stan wasn't completely happy with 'In Person'. This might have been because he associated it with a time when things weren't going too well so he might not have been that keen to see it come round again. I guess the Tracey estate would have to take a view on this.
