5.0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book 19 Oct 2009
This is a clear, practical and easy to read book which covers causes, treatment, self-help and much more. I learned that stammering is different for children and adults, and that it varies from person to person and so, unfortunately, there is no one-fits-all solution. The last chapter is great because it is written by people of all ages who stammer - I can identify with so much in that chapter and in the whole book. If you stammer or are connected with someone who stammers, whether child or adult, and want information, advice or help then read this book - you won't regret it. I have stammered ever since I can remember and I wish I had read it years ago.

4.0 out of 5 stars A few thoughts. 8 April 2009
This book does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a very honest account of stammering and therapy for stammering. If you are a speech and language Therapist or student it gives a great overview and will be a valuable resource for the non specialist. I cannot really comment on its value for someone who stammers but what I can say is that the advice it gives is clear, plain, realistic and straight forward.

As a life long stammerer I found this a great book if you need to get the 'big picture' of stammering. The book walks you through stammering as it impacts all stages of life. I reckon it is really useful for those who are beginning to delve into stammering and need a good primer. Full of practical advice with real-life testimonials from stammerers of all ages.
