Product Description

Product Description

This unsettling but fascinating book will give you a unique insight deep into the minds of stalkers and reveals how their sinister behaviour affects their victims. From shadowy online stalkers, to jealous ex-lovers, from obsessed fans and insidious personal vendettas through to crazed and dangerous criminals, this book probes the innermost instincts of the characters involved in each of the terrifying crimes described here. Based on revealing interviews with policemen, psychiatrists and doctors, as well as the families of many of the true-life victims - both male and female - this is the first time that such a collection of stalking cases from across the UK has been presented in such vivid and memorable detail. Although these stories read like fiction, everything published is based on startling fact.

By Sarah Durston TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
If I had been paying attention, the chapter titles in `Stalkers' might have warned me that this wasn't going to be the most balanced and psychologically revealing of books. `Cyber Bunny Boiler', `Deadly Obsession', `Toy Boy Predator' and `Sinister Senorita' illustrate the sensationalist and tea-break magazine tone of the book as a whole. As you'd expect then, the stories are totally cliché ridden with friends whispering meaningful words into the ears of their dying friends or relatives; young women are murdered and then described as being `too beautiful for this world' and the prose reads like a spoof Crimewatch script.

Add to this that it is so poorly researched that anyone could have knocked this together if they had access to a few newspapers. The most alarming thing about this book is that it managed to find a publisher.

good read 31 Dec 2007

This book is a great read. I was transfixed by each story and particularly interested to read about the female stalkers as this is less publicised in the press. Worth every penny!

chilling... 28 Dec 2007
Format:Paperback
I received this book for christmas and it's one of the best books I've read in ages. It's true crime at it's best. It really delves into the psychological side of why stalking happens but at the same time you feel that you really get to know the victim. It's a mix of fact and fiction which works brilliantly. I also heard that the writer was stalked and that is why she wrote the book and she has provided a section at the end with useful helplines and how to identify if you are being stalked. Polly Clarkson has done a very good job at making this book realistic yet you feel like you are reading a piece of fiction.
