Product Description

Product Description

The most powerful, popular and enduring rock band of all time, the excitement of Led Zeppelin's music was matched only by the fever pitch of their off-stage antics. In hotel rooms and stadiums, in a customized private Boeing 707 jet and country estates, tour manager Richard Cole saw it all - and here tells it all in this close-up, down-and-dirty, no-holds-barred account. This revised edition brings readers up to date on the lives and careers of the band members, whose wild excesses, bizarre lifestyles and ground-breaking music are now the stuff of legend.

And he should know 5 Mar 2004
By Aj Viljoen VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Richard Cole was Led Zeppelin's tour manager. He got them out of trouble. He often also helped them into trouble in the first place, but that is why he has the credentials to write a book like this. He was there. He participated. He was a partner in crime. And I like the fact that this guy never once created the impression that he was exaggerating.

I enjoyed reading the book and I was sometimes astonished by what I read. The subject matter is facinating, even if you are not a fan. The book is informative, unbiassed, well-written and very entertaining. It is also an eye opener.

I read about many bands, and this is one of the better books on rock stars. If you are intrigued by the lives and follies of rock stars, you will love this. I recommend it highly.

This book arrived at 9.30 in the morning. By 6pm I had finished it. I just could not put it down. Wether the tales told within are entirely accurate is open for debate. Certainly Jimmy Page has rubbished most if it. Then again, if it were all true, he would wouldn't he!

As a huge Zeppelin fan I have read dozens of books on the band and this has to be the most enjoyable. Richard Cole comes across as a loveable rogue, which is probably far from the truth. His descriptions of events that happened 30 years and more ago are vivid in the least. It makes you wonder how he remembers it all if he was as hammered as he says he was during the band's touring days.

Still I highly recommend it. True or not it's a great wallow in the nostalgia of Zeppelin's hayday.

I eat, sleep and breathe Led Zeppelin and I LOVED this book! Have had it for years now and have read it a few times. I have to say as I own nearly every Led Zep book that has been published, it makes a refreshing change from the usual (in this year we wrote, released, performed, such and such a song, album etc, you get the picture and all the standard bio stuff and discography which is just written and re written over the years!)

I found the stories, sad, hilarious, shocking etc and so if they are exaggerated, as has been mentioned, it only goes to make the story more interesting. To be honest though, I wouldn't be surprised if they were all true, afterall the band are hardly going to confess all are they? Where would the mystery be then? Even though John Bonham was dead when this was published, Robert Plant divorced (not sure about JPJ), I don't reckon I would like to have been a wife/former wife reading all this!

For more enlightenment into "the truth" read Morgana Welchs' Hollywood Diaries... the stories aren't the same but it will give you an idea and is also a fantastic read.

This is a captivating book, I love it!!
