4.0 out of 5 stars If this is the end, then its a good way to go ..., 19 May 2001
This review is from: Stainless Steel Rat Joins the Circus (Stainless Steel Rat Books) (Mass Market Paperback)
Having just read and enjoyed the book, I was SHOCKED to see some of the reviews here slating it. I thought the book was good fun (like all the other 'rat' books), but had a slightly darker edge to it. If this is the last 'rat' book, then I think its a great way to end the series. But personally I hope Mr Harrison still has a few more Jim Di Griz stories left in him (maybe set before he joined the 'corps'). Sean.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Intense Than Other Rat Books, 17 Feb 2001
This review is from: Stainless Steel Rat Joins the Circus (Stainless Steel Rat Books) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this book once and hated it after reading all the other rat books, but after reading this several times it's begining to grow on me. Yes, the interaction is different, and yes the humour is lacking, but Harry Harrison seems to have cleverly put together a crime novel under the guise of a rat book. Different but worth reading if you have read the others.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book of the Rat can't be bad!, 7 Jan 2001

...I wanted to give the new Rat book 4 stars, but after reading the other reviews I wish I could give it 10 stars!

Sure, we all know Jim. And when you've read all of his other adventures you're not surprised anymore at all of his talents. But that is not the point. This book is a lot of fun. It's not a masterpiece like a lot of his other books...but hey!.....it's still a Harry Harrison book! And that means it can't be bad. And you never ever tell someone with his life experience and all those fantastic books he wrote for us to bow his head in shame!...
