I like it, though I find it a bit odd to find modern colloquial speech used by Middle Ages characters. Easy to read and kept my interest. I should have read "The King's Favourite Son" first!

Great book find it hard to put down. Plenty of action and history attached. First time I've read a Jan Foxall book I believe - can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

I knew nothing very much about the reign of King John and having read the first book in the trilogy, it gave me a good insight as to why he was so badly behaved when he finally came to the throne. The book is well written, makes the characters come alive and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for publication of the third book in the trilogy.

Well researched, good character development, a thoroughly enjoyable book. I will read the sequel as soon as it is published.

As a reader of historical novels and reading through history this writer has opened up my understanding of this era and made me think why this King made so many mistakes but subsequently through them we have the great Magna Carta.
This book is well written and historical my factual.
