As one who does 'hair and make-up for kids'...,
This review is from: Hair and Wigs for the Stage Step-by-step (Stage and Costume) (Backstage) (Hardcover)
...this suited me okay. I learned a few things. I'm not a professional actor or hair/make-up artist, and don't intend to become one (seeing as 'amateurs' probably outnumber 'professionals' by... oh, I don't know, a lot- I don't think that not being 'professional' level is necessarily a problem, especially as 'professionals' not only have professional resources, but are also trained to do it. 'Amateurs' have to learn this stuff somewhere.)You won't be able to base a career on what you learn in this book, but if you're doing a 'historical' setting you don't know much about, it's a start.

Disappointing,
This review is from: Hair and Wigs for the Stage Step-by-step (Stage and Costume) (Backstage) (Hardcover)
This book should be titled 'Hair and Wigs for Kids' as really the level of professional it is probably most suited for is mums or teachers doing hair and makeup for the school play or nativity. It doesn't really show you anything you couldn't work out for yourself or glean from a quick google search. I was really hoping this would give me some helpful tips as a stage performer to improve my makeup and wig-styling skills but it was neither use nor ornament. I am glad I borrowed this from the library rather than wasting good money on it.If anyone can recommend an alternative (especailly with on the subject of wig-dressing) with a higher skill level approach I would be really grateful.

As i am thin on top i like to experiment with various wigs. Some of these are outrageous. This book gives the reader a variety of ideas. This is how to get noticed ,not just on the stage but on the street. Could readers E-mail me yor thoughts on this matter. Overall a good read.
