About the Author

Richard Pilbrow Well known throughout the UK, America, Europe and even in the Far East, Pilbrow first made his mark at Olivier s National Theatre lighting shows such as the first Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. He revolutionised stage lighting in Britain, designing the new system for the new National and setting up Theatre Projects, the first independent lighting design company in the UK. He has been consultant for theatres and concert halls in over 25 countries. He is still a practising designer and has two shows on Broadway as this goes to press. His first book Stage Lighting, has been in print for over twenty years with cumulative sales of tens of thousands. Despite frequent revisions, it was unable to keep pace with the incredible transformation of lighting design into the electronic, computerised box of tricks it is today. Hence the new book...

Richard Pilbrow has long been established as the master of stage lighting practice and his first edition of this book gave many aspiring lighting designers their first real knowledge of the subject. This latest book should be high on anyone who takes lighting seriously's adjenda. The spec pages have been brought up to date, some of the earlier examples replaced (a shame, actually) and the new section adds in potted histories of some of the wrolds best known lighting designers. If you need to know anything about lighting - this is the book to go for. Expensive, but well worth the space on the book shelf.

If you are looking for theatre lighting this book is perfect for you.
The language is very simple and straightforward and anyone can understand , even if you don't have prior theatre or any lighting experience at all.
It covers everything you need to know.
A must have.
