I took an essential first aid course with SJA last week (before that I hadn't done any first aid training since being in the St John Cadets as a kid). After that I thought it wise to get a proper first aid kit. It arrived today.

The compartments are good and don't get in the way, it's laid out very easily. There's room to add extra things if you need - everything's not squashed in, which is really good. Sure it doesn't have finger splints and fancy equipment, but in a first aid situation what you really want is quick access to dressings, and boy does this kit have them! In fact it's pretty much just a big bag of dressings, but that's all you really need.

This kit will enable you to deal with any size of cut or break, and there are enough spares that it will last through several incidents without you having to replenish it (though of course you *should* always replenish the kit when you use something).

It's not a comprehensive kit. You have to weigh up comprehensiveness against simplicity, and this is a great simple kit for dealing with bleeding and breaks. And I would like to stress how nicely laid out it is, you unzip it and it falls open into two halves with everything accessible. No chance of it falling out all over the floor, as everything's either zipped up or in an elasticated pocket.

It's a great kit. If you want to make it comprehensive then add a resus face mask, a heat blanket, tweezers, nail scissors and some burn dressings to elevate it beyond just being able to deal with bleeding and breaks. But there is room in the kit to add those few items.

Other than that I guess it would be nice if the pouch had more reflective tape esp on the back, but it's really not an issue, I'm just fussy.

Really great kit, pretty big. Not as much (spare) room as I anticipated, one of the other reviews indicated there was loadsa space but not quite. I could re-pack the kit (tetris it) but then in an emergency I don't want to be fumbling with compressed first aid equipment.

But there was just enough room for me to add
Tough cut Paramedic scissors
Burnshield Hyrdogel Burn Spray 125ml
Tweezers
5 X 20ML SALINE PODS for eye was or sterile cleaning

Which gives me a pretty sexy first aid kit

And the bag is really well laid out with a big compartment (back section), smaller compartment front section) and pockets in the mesh betweek the sections

For the current price (£13) this is an insane bargain, they are selling the 10 person first aid kit for 50p more.

This will be my home kit but may also be brought along for more active holidays/activities etc

If you're looking for something to form the basis of a first-aid kit for the home, you could do worse than to start here. A sizeable and well-constructed bag contains tons of the basics: plasters, dressings, bandages and so on that should form the basis of any kit. I suspect that to buy the dressings alone from Boots would cost the same as this whole package. As it's intended as a workplace kit (which have to meet certain regulations) it doesn't contain any 'extras' at all - no creams, ointments, pharmaceuticals, tape, tweezers or scissors, but you can of course add these individually. For an extra £10 or so, I was able to add in all the bits and pieces I thought might be useful (scissors, forceps, resus mask, tape. etc). Can't fault it.

This is a good product and has lots of stuff in it, my only disappointment was having to buy a few pieces separately (throughout there is plenty of space inside to add your own bits).

The pack comes with about 6 bandages, a large amount of dressings are included (about 20 in total - this is a guess through as it's now in my car), gloves, cleansing wipes, a first aid booklet, amongst a few other bits if I remember right.

For anyone wanting to buy a complete set, I would also recommend also adding to your order: Mouth shield, tweezers / scissors, burn gel, eye wash and possibly a ice pack (although I'm not sure if I would be able to fit this in as I have not yet purchased one).

I think given the extras I have bought I have pretty much everything I could ever need.. and the price for everything was about £20, which is well worth the money should I need to help someone!.

Pretty much everything you could need for general first aid and at a reasonable price.

Bag and zips seem sturdy enough and doesn't take up too much room in the boot of my car

I bought the St. John Res-cue Mask to add to it and need to add shears - which I thought would have been included and I'll add some burns dressings, just for my own piece of mind.
