I've had terrible acne marks for the longest time that just wouldn't fade no matter what I tried and I've tried a lot!!! High end scrubs, supermarket scrubs, you name it and nothing ever seemed to work. Because of these marks, I used to ALWAYS wear makeup, no matter where I was going, even when I am at home alone. That bad! Noone was allowed to see me without a good layer of foundation! I had heard some nice comments about St Ives and had put off buying it till a couple of months ago. I just decided, "What do I have to lose?" and it was my last stop before considering something more drastic (e.g. professsional facial peeling treatments, etc.).
And I must say the result has been great!!! I'm going on 3 months using it now and my marks have faded considerably, still left with some stubborn ones on my forehead (this area is a pain!), but apart from that the rest have really faded beautifully. What I liked most about this product as well is that right from the first day I used it, my skin took to it perfectly, no adverse reactions at all. You know how some products first give you more spots before they actually start working??? With this one, I did not experience any negative reactions.
I use it 3 times a week at the moment. And my skin feels so so soft and looks better with each wash. I can honestly say, my skin has never looked this clear, soft, radiant and this good, in all my life. And I am so grateful I tried it out!
Now, every once in a while, I sometimes go without makeup at home (and when I'm feeling brave to the local shop, rarely :-)) and sometimes no moisturiser at all and my skin still looks real nice. I will continue to use it and will give you some more feedback by the end of the year, cause I'm so excited and looking forward to what it will look like then! :-)
Some other tips that have worked for me are:
1. Washing my face in cold water, ALWAYS!!! I never use warm water now, like they always tell us!!!
2. Wash your face twice a day and never sleep with your makeup on.
3. After washing your face, depending on your skin type, go without moisturiser (when you are not going to wear any foundation of course) some days and you will see that at times your skin looks even better without it.
4. And ofcourse, use St Ives scrub at least 3 times a week.
SIDE NOTE:
All that stuff people say about drinking lots of water is crap! I used to drink gallons and gallons of water before and now I drink much, much less than I did before and my skin and lips (always dried and chapped!) are the best they have been. I think some of these mineral water companies put a dehydrating element in the water to make you want to drink more of it (i.e. buy more!!!) or something like this. Its a theory I need to get more supporting evidence on. :-). Ofcourse, the long term benefits of water I cannot comment to, but even that I am starting to doubt.
My diet has not really changed either (I have always been a sensible eater), but I do exercise a bit more than I used to and I am getting a little older as well. And I think this could have contributed to the state of my skin now.
Hope this helps someone out there because I know how awful it feels to waste money on products that just dont work!
Really try it out. I never write reviews about anything, but this is the first product I have felt compelled to write something about.
