Terrace Banter was launched in October, 1998, as a football imprint of S.T. Publishing. Over the past decade football as a spectator sport has changed beyond all recognition, particularly for the ordinary fan. A great deal of working class culture and tradition is being cast to one side so that football can appeal to a new market, that of the "soccer fan". Through Terrace Banter we hope to put down in print the experiences of the ordinary fan before they are lost forever in a sea of plastic seats and replica strips. Unless we document our own history, it is left to outsiders and the mass media to be judge and jury. This book is primarily about following England, but it is also about growing up on the terraces. Had to laugh at the comments from the Southampton fan. Afterall they really were at the forefront of the England scene weren't they? lol The author is a Millwall lad who went on the Arsenal-Chelsea-Millwall joint firm that ran things at England back then. Not some mug from the provinces.
This is a decent read. Give it a try

Theres plenty of books like this and got bored of reading them but thought I would give it ago for a holiday book.
I can't help but think Colin Johnson is just a bit of a normal fan looking in on the fringes of England lads playing up and making out he is one of the lads.In parts of the book he talks about making ham rolls and hiring cars going site seeing when going away to watch England this from a young fan who was in his early 20's.....Hmmm Didnt even finish reading the book its on some sun longer in Greece now!
