Before my recent expedition to Sri Lanka, I bought a few travel guides, including this one. I found it to be less informative and less nicely written than others [particularly the Footprint guide to Sri Lanka]. In my personal opinion, this book really should not be bothered with. A disappointment.

Lonely Planet guidebook includes the usual recommendations for restaurants, places to stay and how to get to the things to see. This guidebook however has a lot of personal opinions in it with the authours own opinions on a lot of topics, rather than a more objective view mixed with some recommendations.

This guidebook is unfortunately less informative and less nicely written than other lonely Planet guidebooks.

Usual informative guide to Sri Lanka. Helped us thoroughly enjoy our 10 days backpacking round Sri Lanka - if we hadn't had the book there would have been a pile of things we would have missed like watching the sun come up on New Years Day over Adams Peak
