I absolutely love adventure games with a good mystery story. I played Havy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Walking Dead by Telltale and I must say that I wasn't disappointed in Murdered: Soul Suspect. If you want to see awesome graphics then you might be disappointed. I would say that this game looks as good as PS3 games should have looked like. So it looks good but not excellent. But graphics is not really what is most important about this game. For me the storytelling and the whole feel of the game gripped me from the start. I couldn't put my pad down until I finished a game which I did over 2 days. So yeah another point is it's fairly short BUT I would rather play a shorter game with enough substance to keep me busy rather than drag things out. So all in all if you are after a murder mystery with a supernatural twist, go for it.

While not a 5 star game, I feel this doesn't get as much love as it deserves. I think a lot of people and reviewers have approached this as an action game and it really isn't! It's far more like the old "point and click" games, but one where you have full control over your character and can freely wander around. There are a few stealth sections that, to be honest, don't really work very well, but thankfully, those are few and far between.

I found the story to be very compelling and the voice acting is of a high standard. It all moves along at a reasonable pace and I imagine that if you just concentrate on the story alone and don't looks for the collectables etc, you can probably blast through it in a few hours, but finding all the 200+ items can be very time consuming.

Annoyingly, I missed just 2 collectables on my playthrough and there's only a "new game" option once you finish the game, so I'm going to have to play the whole thing again to look for my missing 2 items! But, I'll enjoy that when I decide to replay as I enjoyed playing this anyway.

One other slight disappointment is the fact that there are only 4 side missions and all 4 can be found very early on in the game. It's almost as though the developers ran out of time or something as there are clearly other characters you come across that need help, but you just end up saying "I wish I could help". I can't help feeling that these were supposed to be side missions, but for whatever reason, they just ain't there!

But, as I say, I really enjoyed playing through this game and I pleased I decided to ignore all the reviews and buy it anyway. If I didn't then I'd have missed out on a very good game, even if it's not a 5 star game!

Highly playable game that has a unique spin on the "detective" genre with a throwback to the old fashioned point and click adventure games that were so highly popular around the 90's.

You play Ronan, a former criminal who has turned his life around miraculously to become a detective. After his wife dies, he throws himself into his work and deems to catch "The Bell Killer", a serial killer who has been targeting women. The police have very few clues as to the murderer's identity or whereabouts and can't seem to make many connections between the victims. While Ronan is on an investigation, he is brutally slain by The Bell Killer, shot dead in the street; Ronan is confused when he finds himself looking down on his lifeless corpse unable to do anything to stop the killer or find out who he is.

The game takes on a supernatural spin as you play Ronan who is now a ghostly entity roaming the streets of Salem in the search for clues to The Bell Killer's identity and whereabouts, as he fears this may be the only thing holding him back from passing onto the other side where he can reunite with his wife. A detective story unlike most others, you must find a way to manipulate witnesses, onlookers and police in order to piece together puzzles, while searching diligently for clues. You will also find yourself coming across other lost souls who may or may not need your help in crossing over, or may be the key to understanding the story better.

As a big time fan of the Supernatural and a lover of detective stories I couldn't help but be intrigued by this game. You play as Ronan O'connor a tough cop who was too reckless for his own good and ended up getting himself murdered, he now needs to solve his own homocide.

The game is well thought out with an intriguing storyline and lots of nice little nods towards fans of detective stories and paranormal enthusiasts. Detective fans will enjoy the tough cop persona of Ronan and be intrigued by the sutle clue finding, whilst enthusiasts of the Paranormal will enjoy being a ghost and doing ghostly things such as walking through walls, possessing the weak minded and talking to psychics. They have even added in Residual imprints which goes to show that the developers have put a lot of thought into the game

There are lots of other things to keep you entertained whilst solving your murder, such as helping lost souls, discovering the history of Salem and avoiding Demons.

There are a few weaknesses to the game in my view though. The graphics already look a little dated and Salem is rather small, whilst you are limited to as where you can go due to pretty much every building in the town is consecrated meaning you can't enter them. Still a good game. If you enjoy detective games and or are interested in the Paranormal, then this game is a little gem
