5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable! 6 Jun 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard Edition
I absolutely love adventure games with a good mystery story. I played Havy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Walking Dead by Telltale and I must say that I wasn't disappointed in Murdered: Soul Suspect. If you want to see awesome graphics then you might be disappointed. I would say that this game looks as good as PS3 games should have looked like. So it looks good but not excellent. But graphics is not really what is most important about this game. For me the storytelling and the whole feel of the game gripped me from the start. I couldn't put my pad down until I finished a game which I did over 2 days. So yeah another point is it's fairly short BUT I would rather play a shorter game with enough substance to keep me busy rather than drag things out. So all in all if you are after a murder mystery with a supernatural twist, go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different, but memorable experience. 11 July 2014

The problem with most game reviewers and gamers today, is that if it doesn't explode and flash in your face every three seconds, it's considered sub-par. Long gone are the days of games which were slower paced, more thoughtful and engaging to a different kind of gaming audience. I really liked this game, plain and simple. The story and characters were the main part of the game and for most part, they were outstanding. Every mission felt different, keeping it from feeling meticulous. Yes, there are flaws in this game, at times it felt a little simplistic but not every game can have the production value of a GTA 5. There's a lot to be admired in this game if you look for it. Take your time with it, don't rush it, enjoy it and see where it takes you. Well worth getting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not finished. 10 Jun 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Standard Edition
This had the potential to be an amazing game. Right from the start, when you witness your death (heavy), there are tasters for intelligent game design to come. You have to move and rotate limbs with your controller, which was ungainly but interesting. You then have to investigate your crime scene and the apartment you've just visited. There are little, interesting (albeit formulaic even early on) sub-mysteries to unravel. There are things to collect, people to manipulate. In the background is a serial-killer mystery with hints of the paranormal. It's all very, very engaging.

Then, about half-way through, I realised that all of the things that made it engaging had stopped. There were no more sub-mysteries; merely a bunch of people the protagonist says "Sorry, can't help" to. The plot went from a mystery investigation to a protracted session of cat-and-mouse. Puzzles became farcically short and simple and characterisation suffered (easiest to con receptionist in history, anybody?) Ultimately, it went from being absorbing to being just a game.

The specific moment that broke the spell was when I was on a balcony trying to talk to a ghost who simply stared at me a lot. Her mouth moved but no words came out. I had to skip the scene to return to the game and then there was no way off the balcony save to jump (leaving my mode of feline transport stuck high up never to return to ground). It was at that moment that the problem occurred to me: It's just not finished. The protag can't help people out because the devs ran out of time to make side-quests. The lip synch is non-existent because it wasn't done in time. Even the graphics, which are massively at odds with the cut-scenes, seem to have suffered.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not great 14 July 2014

1 or 2 aspects of the game were good. But after about 30 mins of this 4 hour game (it really is that short!) It all just starts to get a bit boring and repetitive!
