4.0 out of 5 stars BASIC EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION NEEDED 12 Nov 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I enjoy this game a lot and it gives you five categories - each with 20 levels - and two different formats of question, in each category.

I won't 'save' my final score until I've got 100% of the questions right (sad I know!) and as language is my best subject - that was relatively easy for me (and very enjoyable) to complete.

Next comes the Numeracy category, followed by Logic. I left school at 14 (a long time ago!) so these two categories are causing me grief. I have come to a halt on level 12 in both of these categories, but I'm working on it. Next comes Visual category and finally Memory.

I am 60 years old and quite forgetful, but so far - I'm up to level 15 on both the Visual & Memory and seemingly doing okay. The time allowed to complete the answers - gets less and less with each level and I am finding that difficult because - for some reason, the mouse pointer seems to have a mind of its own in this software. Whether that was the game maker's intent or whether it's because I have a 64 bit machine - I don't know. All I know is that it's very hard to control the mouse pointer to click on an answer quickly - when the cursor is waving about all over the place. (It does allow you to use arrow keys in the game, but I'm not good with those.)

Downsides are (A) the curse of the wavy cursor ... (B) It can only be played full screen and exiting takes about 7 button clicks ... (C) The game uses 'Steam' to control installation etc. which will continue to run in the background on my machine after I have exited the game. That annoys me - so I clear it every time, through the task manager. However - the biggest 'crime' for me is that it can only be run on one of your machines.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mensa member says this is rubbish 20 Jan 2014

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I have been a Mensa member for nearly 40 years and after buying and then trying to play this I will not be renewing membership, it is appalling.
I could not believe that this garbage was produced in the name of Mensa. I can find not one single thing to say in its favour. If I could rate it on its true worth it would be minus 5.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH 5 Jun 2013

Train your brain by watching a load of very poor animation to get to each question, no way!. Would be better not having any graphics at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mensa Academy 10 Feb 2013

It is OK as these types of education software programs go. Rather repetitive in places but the whole point is to reinforce learning for repeated practice.
