In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Spyro must save the Dragon Realms from the Evil Red Dragon who has planted light-sapping Dark Gems all over the Dragon Realms in an attempt to capture and control the world. With the help of his allies, Spyro must seek out and destroy all of the Dark Gems to return the lands back to normal and to save the Dragon Realms from the evil dragon's tyrannical control.
Players guide the fiery purple dragon across dark, mysterious lands which change and morph from evil to good during gameplay, affecting enemies, environments, music, lighting, objects, and more. In addition to playing as the heroic leader Spyro, gamers will also have the opportunity to play as weapons master Hunter the Cheetah, dive-bombing penguin Sgt. Byrd, loyal sidekick Sparx the Dragonfly or the all-new burrowing, climbing Blink the Mole. Equipped with mighty new abilities including the Wall Kick, Tail Swing and Ledge Grab; brand-new power-ups such as the supercharged Horn Dive, explosive Brimstone Bombs and deadly Ice Shards. Fun:
This game is excellent! if you were disappointed with Enter the Dragonfly then this game will be a pleasant surprise. the quotes are funny, spyro sounds and acts like he did in the first spyro game, and there are 5 playable characters, including Blink the mole, a new character, whose levels are pretty cool. Hunter's levels are really fun, i just wish there were more than two of them, though they are quite long. In fact, all the levels tend to be pretty big, so its quite easy to miss stuff the first time round. The graphics are beautifully done and there are no long loading times, since all the levels lead into eachother, rather than separated by portals. the music for the game is quite nice too, especially the music for Ice Citadel, which i love for some reason.
Also, unlike the controls for Enter the Dragonfly, spyro's movements do not feel sluggish, though for an unknown reason the controls for flame and charge have been swapped round, which is really confusing at first if you've played the other spyro games, but you quickly get used to it.
Also if you had trouble finding all the gems in the other games, then do not worry since collecting all the gems is not compulsory in this game, as there is an unlimited amount of gems to collect, which you can use to buy powerups and items from Moneybag's shop.
If you are such a big fan of spyro that you can now do the first three games in your sleep (like me!), then i strongly suggest that you buy this game, as i think that it is a worthy sequel, being almost as good as the original three, maybe even as good, though you can't compare new spyro games with the originals. Spyro rules!

Spyro : A heros tail is a brilliant game. It never bores and isnt too hard, yet isnt stupidly easy either. The bosses may take 2 or 3 tries to defeat but you just need to know their moves. The worlds are ace with everything from beaches and clouds to winter wonderlands and ice citadels. This game is brilliant, the graphics are ace and i strongly reccomend it to anyone who liked the first set of spyro games!
p.s this game is a million times better than the previous spyro game (the dragonfly one)

Fun:
When we first bought this game I was expecting another 'Enter the Dragonfly', in other words another poor conversion, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
Right from the title screen it is clear to see that this game has restored much of the spyro charm which gave the games their popularity on the PS1.
The graphics are beautiful, and the sound is amazing. Some of the music wouldn't sound out of place in a feature film, especialy the BG tracks for Ice Cidatel and Cloudy Domain. The levels are vast and varying, and there are so many challenges and secrets that this game should keep you going for at least a couple of months. There have been reviews saying that it's 'short and easy', however I doubt these people have played the game to it's full potential and tried to achieve 100% completion. Yes, the main objective of the game may be achieved quite quickly, but to realy enjoy it you need to find the secrets and bonuses.
The characters are easy to control and the movement feels free and easy, as opposed to the previous game which felt very sluggish. There is a simple but strong and effective storyline, and the new characters introduce a whole new level of depth to the game. Oh and also the character design is increadible, and they fit very well into their environments.
If you are planning to buy this game and have doubts, put them out of your head and go for it, you wont be dissapointed.

very disappointed
oh dear, i was so looking forward to this game, i am a huge Spyro fan but i gave up after about 5 minutes - difficult to control and dark graphics
