4.0 out of 5 stars A good follow-up to "Lord & Lady Spy" 19 Aug 2013
By Dr B
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a jolly good story! I really enjoyed "Lord and Lady Spy", so when I realised there was to be another in the series, I pre-ordered it and it did not disappoint.

While not as funny as the first book, this one is still a very good story. It has intrigue, past betrayal, danger, loyalty, sexual tension and, of course, love. And, again in common with the first book, it has a serious background sub-theme, in the form of the impact of alcoholism.

When he appeared in the first book, the hero, Blue, seemed to be a character with the potential for interesting development and, indeed this proved to be the case. I would, however, have liked this novella to be longer because I was enjoying both the story and learning more about Blue.

For those who have been "bitten" by novella or short story Kindle books where a large proportion of the file turns out to be trailers, let me assure you that this is not the case here. There is a trailer for the next book, but it is quite brief, being only about 3% of the file, so the novella itself provides fair value and is long enough to get your teeth into.

5.0 out of 5 stars REVIEW - The Spy Wore Blue 30 Sep 2013
By Rachel
Format:Kindle Edition
Written as a combined review, posted at The Reading Cafe 21 Sep 13

5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

WOW .. now this is a fun series. The Lord and Lady Spy series by Shana Galen has it all. Mystery, suspense, romance, humour and lots of action. An absolute refreshing read that offers a different spin on historical romance. If you can, try to think along the lines of Mr and Mrs Smith set in the 1800's ... LOL Well .. that is what I was picturing anyways! Brangelina anyone?? LOL

BOOK 1 - Lord and Lady Spy

REVIEW

We are introduced right away to our leading gal, Lady Sophia Smythe who is hiding in a closet in the midst of a mission. Just when she thinks she about to capture her target, in swoops a mystery man and takes her target away. She is FURIOUS seeing all her hard work literally walking out the door. Oh .. BTW ... Sophia is spy working for an elite spy agency in England.

Of course, our mystery man just so happens to be a fellow spy (and her husband, although she isn't privy to this yet), Lord Adrain Smythe. Both are ignorant to the others true occupation, each living a lie for the others benefit. Sophie plays the frumpy, charity driven proper wife and Adrian plays the boring proper gentleman who frequents his club and lives a normal life. I tell you when these two find out who the other really is ... well ... GAME ON! LOL

Our Lady and Lord have been offered a chance to solve a murder of a very important man. But there is a catch! They are told that whoever solves this murder will be given the position of permanent spy which is enticing to both of them seeing as they refuse to life a boring existence.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect read for a hot summer night! 9 Aug 2013
By Nicole Laverdure - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Shana Galen is one of my favorite authors for stories of the Regency era and this time, she did it again!
I have read True Spies & Lord and Lady Spy and loved them; but THE SPY WORE BLUE is my favorite one
of her series. This novella is filled with passion and humour! it's a little gem to discover!
Beautiful sexual chemistry between her two characters Agent Blue and Helena. When I say they are hot together,
sparks ignite around them. They were still husband and wife, but could not live together, they were either arguing or making love! What a pair! They were hot and wild! It was a delight to read! Blue was a sexy man and a real temptation for Helena. I liked the intrigue which fit well with her characters. I could not put it down, it is so much fun to read and the hot scenes kept me reading until the end. I love the way Ms. Galen finished her story!
I highly recommend this book specially if you love Regency romances.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another goody from Shana Galen. 10 Aug 2013

Closer to 4 stars.

I can't tell you how much I love this series by Shana Galen. Seriously, LOVE IT! This was a great novella but I do wish it was just a bit longer. I really like Blue and I was interested in finally learning more about him. In the other books he's so elusive, so it was great to finally learn more about it him. My only issue, is that I just wanted more of him. I wanted more backstory and a few more scenes between him and Helena. I just felt at times the story felt a bit rushed in spots but it's understandable because it's a novella. I honestly found his story fascinating and I honestly just want more. I do hope we see more of him in the series because I definitely haven't had enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Agent Blue 4 Sep 2013
By Barbara Elness - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After encountering Agent Blue in Lord and Lady Spy, I was excited to hear he was going to have his story told. I would have loved a full length book, but I’ll take what I can get, and I got quite a lot in this novella. We learn how Agent Blue got his nickname, find out his real name, and get more information about his background, including an estranged wife who is an opera singer. As Blue tracks an assassin in Naples, he arranges to work as an accompanist in the theater where Helena works, determined to stop this ruthless killer once and for all. Once these two get together again, they rediscover all the passion they once had is still there, and the time they’ve been apart has resulted in changes that might make all the difference. Even though I loved the ending, I hope we hear from Agent Blue again, I’d enjoy seeing him in future books in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, I guess 6 Sep 2013

I liked the premise of the book and looked forward to learning more about Blue. However, the book felt rushed and sloppy. Blue and Helena's backstory remains vague although the limited history we were given was certainly unique to the genre. Spoiler alert: I tend to get caught up in the details at times so at one point the H an H are searching the theatre for the assasin and finally decide he's not there. At that point, the hero sends the heroine out to pick up some food since they haven't eaten. Now this is done late (near midnight) and she is walking around alone with an assasin on the loose? Yet hero is so protective of her ? And then when she returns they proceed to get frisky and forgot all about the assasin because the theater is safe now, right? Stupid plot twists like this drive me crazy and distract from the story. This story could have been so much better than it was.

5.0 out of 5 stars It packed a punch in its short format... 6 Sep 2013

The above blurb just about tells you the story, so I'll just skip the retelling of it and go straight to the point.

I know I'm not the only one out there that wished, I mean REALLY wished, this story was a full book. I thought Blue deserved it!

Regardless of my wishes, I'll admit I liked it a lot. It packed a punch in its short format, and you'll find a bit of everything in it; mystery, suspense, and passion between two very intriguing characters.
And speaking of characters, these two were ON FIRE! Holy smokes! These two were burning up the pages of my Kindle! LOVED IT!
