What a let down! My 8 year old son has just finished reading spy dogs/ spy pups and they were brilliant! Spymice, judging by the cover and the introdution led me to believe that this was to be another rip roaring adventure story. What a pile of kak. I have no idea what age group this book is aimed at but even i could not come to terms with it,s overdone dour text.I did manage to get to chapter 5 which was something of an achievement as i had to explain what was being written constantly to my son.
This maybe shortlisted for some kind of literary prize. I don,t know. Or care. One thing,s for sure. Spy dogs it is not!

My 10 year old got it from school as a reading book. She considered it funny, well paced detective story, suitable for her age. I read a few pages myself, and started to wonder, if the previous reviewer had perhaps read a different book?! I think it is quite a good introduction to the genre, aimed at pre-teens. Recommended.
