Product Description

Product Description

Secret boxes and hidden pockets, disguises and fingerprints, spy snacks and invisible inks - these are just a selection of the exciting projects and entertaining information shown in the clear, step-by-step way that Haynes is famous for. The recent upsurge in books, television and films linked with spies has made this an extremely popular subject with children. This book is action-packed with practical activities for 7 to 11-year-olds: every page of the "Spy Manual" has a fresh, exciting design that will appeal to boys and girls who want to make, do, play and learn about everything to do with spies.

About the Author

Andrew Parkinson was the main contributor to Haynes's best-selling Dad Manual. He brings his practical approach, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to all projects and enjoys the subjects as much as the children. He is also author of the Pirate Manual.

Spy Manual 15 Feb 2009
A Kid's Review
Format:Hardcover
This book is packed with loads of great things to do on a rainy day or during dark winter evenings. Some of the things appeal to girls like the Chamber of Secrets and Periscope Peeping. Secret Code Cake and Dangerous Drinks are good because they involve cooking which I like. But I did think the book might appeal more to boys. Each activity has a 'difficulty rating' so some things can be made without the help of a parent, but some need quite a lot of parental help. It's also quite difficult to persuade my mum to help me!

Spy Manual 8 April 2009
Format:Hardcover
How I would have loved to find this book about 25 years ago when I know my son would have revelled in the possibilities and delighted in fabricating the periscope, coins, snares etc. When teaching in primary school I used to introduce the idea of codes, but not the wide range found here. It is all excellently presented and exciting - such a stimulating and fun book for the 7-11 or 12 age group which I look forward to enjoyng with my granchildren - if they'll let me!

A Kid's Review
Format:Hardcover
This book is jam-packed with fantastic things to do and make, but requires good reading skills, and may be too wordy for young dyslexic spies. I like the section on silent speaking and want to practice it on my family.
