Product Description

Watch video in real time with the handheld remote's color video screen. View larger. Stealthy Surveillance on Wheels For covert operation, the Spy Video TRAKR camera rolls close to the ground on four wheels that have special stealth treads. Equipped with an antenna, microphone, adjustable video lens, and speaker, TRAKR makes it easy to observe your suspects. While the TRAKR is equipped with stealth treads for easy mobility, it is not designed for travel through sand, water, or snow. Avoid puddles and stick to paved or clean surfaces to ensure lasting operation. The TRAKR records your young sleuth's evidence! View larger. Remote Control with Real-Time Video Playback It's easy to maneuver the TRAKR robot with the handheld remote, which has dual toggling controllers and an easy-access "go" button. The remote's greatest feature, however, is its color video screen. TRAKR transmits video of your suspects back to the remote control in real time, letting you in on the action immediately. Additionally, a front-located speaker lets you listen in on top-secret conversations. Plug In for Advanced Spying You can run TRAKR in normal mode or take advantage of its preloaded apps for more advanced functionality. TRAKR is loaded with a night vision app for performing video surveillance in the dark. Additionally, a preprogrammed mapping app lets you send your TRAKR on a predetermined path. TRAKR is also loaded with a cyborg vision app, which lets you monitor your suspects using a speedometer, a spy compass, and crosshairs. Use the included USB cable to download additional apps to your TRAKR from the Spy Gear Web site, where you can also design custom The Spy TRAKR requires 10 AA batteries and a small Phillips head screwdriver for battery installation.

excellent my son loved it best Christmas present he said. Invest in rechargeable batteries though as it uses loads even Duracell don't last very long and it can prove very expensive to keep replacing them.
Apps on line are fun although not used many yet.
Colour screen quality is not too bad baring in mind it is a toy.
Overall it is a good toy and would recommend it but shop around as prices vary we had to pay over £100 to get it before christmas.

Cool spy camera 3 Dec 2010
By S. Moore - Published on Amazon.com

My 8 year old just got this for his birthday. He's been having loads of fun with it. It's easy to control. Too loud to truly be sneaky but still fun. The video camera quality is quite good and the monitor on the remote is good as well. Nice resolution, but keep in mind it is a toy not a cell phone. It can clearly see across a 15ft room in light and the night vision will see a good 7ft with all the lights out. We haven't done any of the advanced computer-linked stuff or downloaded apps or that, so I can't comment on that, but it seems there are some advanced programming options to explore as he gets older.

There is a slight delay between the video/audio the camera receives and what you see/hear on the monitor but once you get used to it, it's easy to work with.

The camera will record video and still pictures and of course show where you are driving around. 10 AA batteries are required as well. 6/robot 4/remote

If there were one thing I would improve, I wish it had the ability for the camera to look up/down by remote control. You can adjust the camera up/down with your hand but once it's set it stays in that position until you manually adjust it. Not a big deal really. My son didn't even know it would move up/down at all until I showed him and he'd been having tons of fun seeing everything at feet level.

Seems like a quality well constructed toy that will provide entertainment for a long time.

Spy Video Trakr - First impressions 19 May 2011
By Major Sebastian Perry - Published on Amazon.com

Well what can I say...I had read several reviews about this little Geek treat and while most praised the Trakr, a few were, well, less than flattering. With these in mind I had decided prior to the arrival of my new 'toy', not to expect too much.

The big day arrived and I ripped this gizmo out of it's packing box (wonderfully packaged and quickly sent - thanks Toychute LLC!) and that's when I got my first pleasant surprise.
No zip ties holding the main unit or remote vice-like to the inside of the box - no tape to ruin the finish and annoy me, no extra papers or advertising to have to dispose off, it fact, removal from the box was a breeze! Everything is well protected yet easy to get to and remove. There is also very little by way of assembly...

The antenna on the main unit simply snaps into place, the 'cargo' platform pops straight in and the battery compartments require nothing more than a basic Phillips-head screwdriver to access (remember you are going to need TEN AA batteries for this thing, 6 for the main unit and 4 for the remote).

After 'getting my geek on' and playing with...I mean testing...the Trakr for a couple of hours, I really only have two words...LOVE IT!

A few people have mentioned that the range well, sucks, on this thing and while it is true that wireless interference from cell phones, routers, etc, plus certain building materials, large chunks of metal and low battery power MAY have an adverse effect, I had no problem getting 150 feet+ outside (on a level, asphalt driveway surrounded by power-lines) and inside, I have full control throughout the house (I did notice intermittent interference from my wireless router, which promptly disappeared when I switched it off).

Battery life seems to be at least several hours (I inserted a new set of batteries and after 4 hours of total use so far, the batteries are at 60%) So you parents may want to thing towards rechargeable ones (though 10 of them will cost!) I also suspect that using a SD card for recording video/sound and picture taking (not supplied but available just about anywhere and inexpensive) will eat through batteries a lot faster. But in saying that, this thing is complete modifiable from both the software and hardware end, so an alternative battery/power source may be worth considering by the techies out there.

That's about it for now I guess (perhaps I can add a little more after further testing), other than perhaps mention that while not 'silent', the motors are quieter than you may expect, the camera seems to be up to the job (it is manually adjustable - another project for the tech crowd?), the infrared sees out to about 6 feet, and the motors will power this wonderful little gadget around pretty well (I would not advise driving it through sand or water for the sake of the electronics and long grass gets stuck in the tracks and stalls it out! lol)

This is a great 'toy' with lots of fun potential for kids of all ages and enough tinkering possibilities for techies of all levels.

Highly recommended!!

awesome spy 27 Oct 2010

It does go over carpets and around corners very well. The camera does a very good job so you can see what is ahead. Great for spying on brothers and sisters and for finding them when playing hide and seek. Only it could be a little quieter.

fun, easy to use, rugged, adaptable. 7 Nov 2010

we're using this as a ghost hunting tool.

adding an infrared illuminator (12-LED IR flashlight) has tripled the range and clarity of the camera and made navigating with it much easier.

takes a little getting used to..you have to remember to go wide around objects because you will run into things you can't see close up.

does not run well on grass, as the tracks slide around, but it does still work. better tracks might fix this.

once they release the full programming language we will be making our own apps for this. this will definitely be beyond the ability of most younger kids to do, but they can download apps other people have made and probably have just as much fun.

This is a great toy, not the fastest possible, but so much fun. If you go online and get more apps, its even better.
