Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Another day, another world-dominating villain to crush. Spy Fox is back, and this time he must stop Napoleon LeRoach before the cretinous cockroach can unleash a giant robotic dog on the unsuspecting world. The nefarious commander of SMELLY (Society for Meaningless Evil, Larceny, Lying, and Yelling) has hidden the dog at the World's Fair, and every innocent tourist who visits the event helps wind up the dogbot's engine simply by passing through the fair gate's turnstiles.

Combining puzzles, animations, and a loony cast of animal characters straight from a James Bond film, Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required equips players with fiendishly clever gadgets and the means to make fake identities for themselves. Thus armed, they can roam the World's Fair, searching for the critical off switch and deactivation codes to shut down the dogbot before it's too late.

Some Assembly Required has the usual virtues of a Spy Fox game: vivid and interesting visuals, great sound, intriguing puzzles, humor, and a lot of creativity. The gadgets are a particular delight, and the emphasis on mechanics will interest players who are keen to understand how things work. Parents will be pleased to see that values such as cooperation and teamwork are stressed, as Spy Fox relies heavily on scientists and other spies to help him complete his mission. Though the game has many animated sequences--which may frustrate task-oriented players---they are more entertaining than most segments in similar games.

Whether you're a fan of Spy Fox or you're just looking to solve some brainteasers that pack a humorous punch, Some Assembly Required will definitely deliver. The Mobile Command Center and Spy Fox gadgets await! Can you save civilization, or will SMELLY carry the day? (Ages 5 to 10) --Alyx Dellamonica

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love Spy Fox And So Does My Mum, 6 May 2001
I love Spy Fox. I am six years old and playing on the computer is probably my favourite activity. I have tried many CD Roms and this is one of the best. All of the Humongous games are brilliant (Freddy Fish, Pyjama Sam etc)but this one is especially brilliant. In fact I am now desperate for Spy Fox 1 because I have not tried it yet.

Spy Fox 2 involves searching for a way to save the World's Fair which an evil villain is threatening. You need to help Spy Fox do this by finding the things he needs to deactivate a "dogbot". You need to think and work quite hard to do this which makes this game much more educational than the average computer game. My Mum thinks that this is a good thing.

My Mum is also pleased that the trail is quite challenging and keeps me busy for quite some time. Some parents may be worried that once the mystery has been solved the CD will be cast to the back of the drawer and yet another one requested. Well you will be pleased to know that there are a number of different trails with different solutions which keep the interest going.

This is a great CD Rom and let me assure you I am an expert!

We bought this for christmas with putt putt and pyjama sam (other humungous cds) and our children have enjoyed them and visitors come back and ask to play them. Ideal age about 8-12.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHAT??, 1 Jun 2007
I'd like to ask these idiots if they have ever played a real PC game.

All this 'game' involves is clicking the screen at various places until you unearth some random oddity, or donning various shades of rose tinted spectacles to find hidden blueprints, which you then proceed to feed to a talking duck.

Once you have completed it (in an hour at most), following the sense that you just wasted part of your life, you will realise that this game has a spectacular lack of replay potential, unless you enjoy playing the exact same thing again.

This game doesn't teach kids anything, just leads them into a sorry little existance. I'm not necesarily saying that you should go out and buy your kids Grand Theft Auto instead (they would get more from it), but I would higly recommend that you consider using this disc as a coaster or as a previous review suggested, throw it at the back of your drawer.

While I'm on the previous review:

There's nothing to be an expert on, James Hoare (or should I say James Hoare's mum), the other humongous games suck, and I hope that now you are 12 you have discovered real man's games.

This is just another lousy game churned out for pennies buy a company who invested no time, thought or effort into the making of it. Save your money.
