I was new to sprouting a few months ago and am now doing it every day. I am amazed by how health-enhancing, cheap and easy it is to grow my own sprouts and baby greens, and this is purely as a result of reading and following the simple steps in this excellent guide.

Holloway's style is delightfully anecdotal, which makes the book a pleasure to read, but she is clearly also extremely knowledgeable and experienced. As a result you are buying not just a guide but years of extensive experiments with different sprouting methods for various seeds, nuts and pulses. What Holloway doesn't know about sprouting in the UK doesn't seem worth knowing. If you like to-the-point, enthusiastic advice, this is the book for you.

This book is light and easy to read with a bit of humour. It is ideal for any person just getting into sprouting,

The basics are given, including some facts and benefits that the author has researched. The book as a whole is rather light on facts, nutrients of each sprout etc, which why I say good for beginners.

Well worth a read if you are thinking of starting growing your own sprouts in the UK

5.0 out of 5 stars This book has already paid for itself 18 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
We have recently changed our lives by moving to the countryside, reducing our working hours to as few as possible, and trying to use money a lot less so we can have more time to pursue our creative interests. We are astonished at how our spending has reduced now that we're not surrounded by shops. We are new to sprouting and this book has been perfect for us because it's so practical. For example, it steered us to start by effortlessly making equipment out of trays and jars that we already have, rather than rushing out to buy specialist equipment that might not even suit whatever beans and greens become our favourites. We had reservations about sprouting because we thought it might be time-consuming and laborious, which would have clashed with out new philosophy. But it's easy and fast! It's only days since we bought the book and it's already paid for itself.

We appreciate that the book is tailored to the British climate. Its time forecasts seem accurate so far.

Yet it seems adventurous in its breadth and geographical reach so far as sourcing is concerned.

I've been addicted to those miraculous mouthfulls called snow pea shoots for the past year, handing over big wads of cash to supermarkets for floaty bags of green cloud, and now I know all about them and that when freshly gleaned they are even more miraculously essence-of-green than I could have imagined, and I can breathe in their smell whenever I like!

We can't believe it's taken so long for us to try this, but it was because we thought it must be laborious whereas it is so quick and easy! Thank you "Sprouting in the UK!"
