Having bought and used both these spikes from Springyard and the popular Get-a-Grips, I prefer these for three main reasons.

Firstly, they're cheaper; secondly they have one more spike (5 at the front instead of 4) which I feel gives a better grip and finally, in my opinion, they're easier to put on the shoes (a bit more stretchy). However, they don't come with spare spikes but then the spike construction is slightly different and they seem less likely to be damaged/snapped off.

I've only tested these once (versus several times with the Get-a-Grips) but I'm very impressed. Clearly the effect of the Swedish winter has positively influenced their design. They come with a nifty little draw-string black bag (which will probably degrade eventually), but is fine for the job.

Whilst they recommend putting them on shoes/boots before you put them on your feet, it's not essential to do it this way. It's also not difficult removing them without having to take ones footwear off. Definitely a plus when they're all mucky with snow and mud!

It's a big comfort keeping some in the car for when you get caught out by the weather. I strongly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get a grip 24 Nov 2010

Colour Name:Black| Size Name:Medium|Verified Purchase
A simple aid to walking when conditions are slippery, these grippers attach to shoes and keep one's feet on the floor. If you walk in boots, remember to order a large enough size, but they do need to be tight to stay on. Fast delivery and they do what they claim. Recomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!! 3 Dec 2010
By Smuzza
Really really pleased with these, I hate it when it snows as I have to walk to work and always dread it. But now I have these I look forward to walking to work! One reviewer said that they fall off, I can honestly say mine have never come close to falling off, I wear mine on trainers and they are a perfect fit. Definitely money well spent. Can't recommend them highly enough!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 2 Dec 2010
Verified Purchase
I have had these Anti-slip Ice Grips for 2 days now, and they have enabled me to walk around in thick snow and ice, without (touch wood!) slipping. I have severe osteo-arthritis in my knees, and have problems walking around even when the ground is not slippy, so I was very impressed that these grips allowed me to walk confidently and safely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Springyard ice grippers 1 Dec 2010
Colour Name:Black|Size Name:X-Large
X-large only just fits size 11UK shoe, but may stretch a bit. Other reviews suggested these might be better than Yaktrax for walking on short stretches of tarmac. I found that they grip perfectly on snow and ice, but wobble a bit on tarmac. I wouldn't want to walk more than the occasional 20metres on tarmac, but they could help avoid a serious injury on ice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Anti-Slip Ice Grips 23 Dec 2010
By Peter
Colour Name:Black|Size Name:X-Large
Purchased a pair for my wife and one for myself. They just will not stay on a pair of walking boots and either slip off on front or back. Pity the manufactures did trial them before sale. Complete waste of money.
