Book Description

Linda Lael Miller returns to an unforgettable Montana town for a very special occasion....

SPRINGWATER WEDDING

Once a frontier stagecoach stop, tiny Springwater has grown and changed and entered the twenty-first century. Cattle rustlers may still be stirring up trouble, but now they're high-tech operators in a modern world. Where stagecoaches once rolled along muddy roads, the Internet is now the newest highway in town. But heartbreak is still heartbreak and love still love, and Springwater still boasts a rich legacy of joy, sorrow, and second chances -- as two childhood sweethearts discover when they rekindle a long-ago passion in the place they will always call home.

Maggie McCaffrey left her fast-paced corporate job to take a chance on a more rewarding -- but riskier -- business venture: turning the dilapidated Springwater Station into a bed-and-breakfast. But Maggie didn't count on running straight into J.T. Wainwright, the hometown boy who stole her heart many years before. A tough former New York City cop, J.T. survived a grave gunshot wound and returned to Springwater to find a better way of life. Now, as deputy town marshal, he's facing off with modern-day cattle thieves who are plaguing local ranchers. Stronger than ever, J.T. seems ready for anything -- except, of course, Maggie.

As Maggie's B&B begins to take root, a delightful new cast of Springwater locals passes through its doors. Maggie's parents, Kathleen and Reece, are finding that their forty-year marriage requires a little renegotiating now and then. Cindy, a teenage newlywed with a baby on the way, is learning about love and sacrifice for the first time. And town marshal Purvis Digg is turningSpringwater upside down by dating a woman he met on the Internet.

As always, Linda Lael Miller enchants readers with her portrayal of the complex tangle of life and love in a small town. With her trademark sensuality and her ?air for wit, she once again brings Springwater to life -- this time, at the dawn of a new era.

3.0 out of 5 stars Springwater Wedding 22 April 2001
By Lisa Davidson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
A touching love story in dire need of better editing. One wonders, where is Miller's editor? "Wedding" features five love stories, and only one of these, a sub plot involving the heroine's parents, is fully explained and realized. The others suffer from a great loss of detail. It's as if Miller began her book well and then was rushed in the finishing. The sub plot involving the heroine's best friend? The reader hasn't a clue as to the problems in her marriage or with her fertility. The sub plot involving the young couple? Miller's skills in writing good characters makes us care for them, but we never get to find out how they feel about key dramatic points in the story. The sub plot involving the sheriff's internet romance? Once again, sweet people, but too many details are missing in the end. The hero and heroine, while seemingly decent people, we know the very least about. Of course we know they'll get together, but we're not rooting for them to do just that because the details of their earlier breakup are too vague and/or unexplained. Their one sex scene seems almost thrown in. Our heroine is prim, and we have no idea why she is willing to have sex the one time (and not others). The entire book left me scratching my head, and wondering why her editor did not do her job better. Linda Lael Miller and her fans deserve better!

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice conclusion to this series... 31 Mar 2005
By ThisThatNEverything - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Although I was disappointed to jump 100+ years ahead of the other books in this series I still enjoyed this book. In this book you follow Maggie McCaffery (Jacob & June-Bug are her ancestors) & J.T. Wainwright (Scully & Evangeline are his ancestors). Maggie & J.T. grew up together in Springwater & were young lovers & eventually they split up & married others. 10 years later they both come back to Springwater to begin new lives & they re-kindle their love for one another very quickly. The beginning of this book is pretty slow but the ending is action packed. It made up for anything that I was missing at the beginning. It was nice hearing references to the other people in this series that lived a century earlier. If you have followed the Springwater series then I recommend this book if you are willing to jump to modern day.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic finale to this exciting series 3 April 2001
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
On Christmas break from college, Maggie McCaffery returned home to Springwater, Montana where she tried to forge a relationship with town bad boy J.T. Wainwright. He rejected her, breaking her heart. On the rebound, Maggie marries Connor Bartholomew, but ultimately they divorce and she returns home again with plans to convert the Springwater Station into a bed and breakfast. J.T. also comes home after being shot in the line of duty as a New York police detective.

J.T. knows he blew it years ago with the only woman he ever loved and prays he has a second chance though he remains haunted by the death of his NYPD partner. However, Maggie wants nothing to do with J.T. though he still makes her heart thump out of control.

Talented Linda Lael Miller provides her fans with the romantic tale of two descendants from her popular Springwater series. The contemporary story line is fun for those readers who enjoyed Ms. Miller's nineteenth century stories. The romance is the core of the book, but a subplot involving ugly ranch incidents add unnecessary suspense to a story that reads quite well as a second chance at love novel.
