5.0 out of 5 stars Always a firm favourite, 9 Jul 2008
By Plumtree29 (Somerset, England) - See all my reviews
We were given this book for our 11 month old daughter and she loved it as soon as she saw it. She constantly reaches for it and being musical is one of the few books she will actually happily look at by herself and do the various hand actions which accompany many of the rhymes such as "Incey Wincey Spider". Can be very entertaining to just watch her looking at it. However it is a great book for both of you to use together.

It contains a page for each popular children's nursery rhyme with an easy to recognise symbol at the top to indicate which part to press on the plastic musical edge to hear the matching music. What is good about this is that there is no annoying singing to listen to over and over again just the music. Excellent for co-ordination of the child, simple and bright illustrations and not under estimating familiarisation for the adult of the lines of nursery rhymes long forgotten since childhood.

A great book for dipping into at any time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent buy, 8 Sep 2008
This is a brilliant book. Has nursery rhymes that are familiar to mom. The words are on the page while the sound buttons provide the music. Mom and baby will enjoy singing along to this one. Buttons are easy to press. My son (14 months) is able to activate the sounds himself. He brings his book to me and says 'Ba-Ba'. He wants me to sing for him 'Ba-Ba Black sheep'. I love the fact that the book has the song 'Polly put the kettle on' because this is one of the familiar ones from his favourite television programme, Barney & friends. Children will love the bright colours of the book. The hard board pages make it a great buy since little hands won't be tearing pages off.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice songs, unwieldy book, 7 Jul 2009
By Jen the Pen (London, UK) - See all my reviews
The main drawback to Spot's Big Nursery Song Book is that it is too big. My toddler dropped this heavy and unwieldy tome on my big toe and I was in such excruciating pain I thought I'd broken it. The book is far too hefty for my two and a half year old to manage on her own, which is a shame, because she likes the songs. I was pleased to see the choices included 'I had a little nut tree', an old favourite that doesn't crop up in other song compilations. Another small complaint is that the tune to 'Incy Wincy Spider' goes wrong in the middle. Buy this for older toddlers and budding weight lifters.
