Eric Hill's Spot is an evergreen favourite with babies and toddlers enjoying the first pleasures of story time and rightly so. This book is an appropriate introduction to the Spot character, having all the added appeal of the different farm animals and their noises as he searches for baby animals on the farm. It also has the added dimension of teaching the older child the names of each kind of baby animal (i.e. a baby horse is a foal, and so on) so that you should get your money's worth out of this one for some time to come. The lift-up flaps are a delight to young babies from around 12 months who, in my experience, cope well with them even when the book has paper, and not board, pages as in this case. And of course the parent gets all the fun of providing the animal noises. My child loves all her Spot books but this one gets dropped in my lap over and over again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book with great flaps 19 Oct 2010
By Steph
Format:Board book
A fantastic book for young readers, my daughter still loves it at 3, and has been reading it for a year now. The flaps are great; there's a story behind the turning pages and a good twist at the end! I've been a bit dissapointed with some of the other spot books (such as spot goes to the park) this one is light years better. I really recommend it.

I have bought lots of other lift the flap and board books for my toddler but this has been his favourite since he was 12 months old. He loves lifting the flaps and listening to the various attempts at animal noises I make! Good strong flaps built imaginatively into the story as parts of the scenery. More pages than most baby books which gives you both time to get really involved but not so long your child becomes bored. Also recommend buying the board book version as this has sustained quite a battering!

The pictures are good and the flaps well done but the text is just weird. You have a horse telling you " no foals in here", a cow telling you "no calves in here" and a rabbit... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Spot goes to the farm
Bought this as a Xmas present for an 18 month boy but at first glance it looks as though he will love it. The flaps open reasonably easily and will keep him amused at bedtime.

Good story - just right for my one-year-old grand-daughter. The Spot stories seem to stand the test of time. More please.
