Product Description

Product Description

SPOT Gen3 gives you a critical, life-saving line of communication when you travel beyond the boundaries of mobile service. The latest generation of award-winning SPOT devices, SPOT Gen3 lets family and friends know you're okay, or if the worst should happen, sends emergency responders your GPS location - all with the push of a button. Add this rugged, pocket-sized device to your essential gear and stay connected whenever you roam.

Enhanced Tracking Services:
  • Custom Tracking Rate - SPOT Gen3's customized tracking allows you to change the rate that tracks are sent from 2 1/2, 5, 10, 30 or 60 minutes when you upgrade to one of the new tracking services: Unlimited or Extreme Tracking.
  • Motion-Activated Tracking - A vibration sensor tells SPOT to send your GPS location when you are moving, conserving battery power and avoids sending duplicate tracks.
  • Continuous Tracking - When you upgrade to Unlimited or Extreme Tracking, SPOT Gen3 will send track messages until you turn off your SPOT. No need to reset after 24 hours.

    Dock Mode for watercraft monitoring:<Br>
A new feature is Dock Mode which is designed for asset monitoring of a vessel that is primarily stored on the water. Dock Mode changes the way the SPOT determines new movement from a vibration sensor, embedded within the unit, to accommodate constant movement of a vessel on the water when moored or at anchor.

When multiple track points with similar GPS coordinates are detected, tracking will go into standby mode. While in standby mode SPOT will not send track messages, but it will continue to attain your GPS coordinates at the same rate as your track mode. Once SPOT has determined movement over a 200m distance, tracking will resume normally.

NOTE : Requires additional purchase of annual subscription.

I bought this new spot for my husband who takes part in long distance motorcycle touring. The Spot Gen3 I would say is better than previous models. Having the ok button is a great feature for peace of mind.

Much smaller that the original Spot tracker with more features. It's quite expensive to own and run but a lifesaver if you have an accident.
Good for lone workers, mountain climbers, hill walkers, stalkers, and others that are away from phone or radio signals.
Not so good if you have tree cover or operate outside the satellite coverage areas.

Worked exactly as it claimed on the tin, providing reassurance for family and friends that I was OK on the first half of the Cape Wrath trail, and insurance for me in case things went pear-shaped.

Smaller, longer lasting, and more user friendly due to more buttons and LEDs informing you what's on and if the message was sent. I use it when paragliding and turn the tracker on when flying through remote places. I wasn't tempted with the previous iPhone interacting Spot version as it would be too fiddly on the go. Previously I had the 2nd model.
