In this period movie Sammo Hung plays a guy who never shies away from a bet, and agrees to stay in a haunted temple overnight. It is then that he becomes victim to some awful spooky encounters, which are actually being conjured up by a guy who knows a variation of voodoo. But worse is to come...
After returning from his escapades in the temple, he returns home only to find his place blood-stained, trashed and his wife supposedly murdered (although not there to confirm otherwise), and the police, led by the great Lam Ching-Ying ('Magnificent Butcher', 'Eastern Condors' -- sadly, he died in 1997), arrest him. He breaks out of jail and is soon on the run. However, all is soon set for the climactic battle, which is quite different to what you may have seen before...
This contains some brilliant comic moments (particularly the zombie that follows Sammo's every move -- almost!) and the choreography is undeniably among the best he's done that show his surprising range of mobility for someone his size. The ruck where he uses Monkey-style Kung Fu is amazing!
