This book was absolutely fantastic, it kept you guessing and each time you thought of 'who dunnit' another surprise is thrown in to make you think again. Would definately recommend to anyone who is a fan of this genre of book.

Lorelei can "steal secrets" from other peoples' minds. This puts her in danger so she is sent to live with Delia as a small child and grows up knowing she must never use this strange talent. Then a Halloween prank goes wrong, girls start disappearing from school and Lorelei knows she must face her fears in order to protect the people she loves.
A good premise. No vampires or other paranormal beings, just teenagers with special abilities (a bit like X-men?). I wasn't altogether sure at times that this story knew what it wanted to be - high-school drama, horror, mystery, paranormal romance - and there were times when the plot evolved a little too conveniently for credibility, in my opinion, but it was well-executed. I liked the menace of Lucien and many of the minor characters such as Jude and Mick were well-drawn and believable. I can see this turning into a series!
I was particularly impressed by the writing style and editing. It was an enjoyable read and kept me wanting to find out who the bad guys really were. Faultless prose and immaculate presentation, which makes a huge difference to the quality of a novel.

I finished Spooked in one sitting I loved it! It has an unusual premise with a whiff of Xmen and amazingly for a current fantasy novel not a vampire or werewolf to be seen.
Lorelei is a bright character, circumstances have left her as a loner, you know she's a good kid but in an effort to make a friend and be liked she gets herself caught up in a prank, and that's when the story really starts. As things develops,and Lorelei's character deepens you find she's not just a "girl" who looks to the boys to help her all the time, she's quick on her feet and willing to play out the moment to see where it will go even when she's terrified and can't quite get her head round everything that's happening around her,y the storyline is a delight with twists on every chapter, just when you think you know who the antagonist is your proven wrong! I really hope there will be a next one, to learn more about Lucian, will he find out about Leo? What about Jude, Mick and Strummer, arggh so many roads Ms Sharp can travel! Want to know what I'm talking about? Read the book, I promise you won't be disappointed! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy read, it's a YA book but at 21 (and the rest!) I thoroughly enjoyed it so would have no hesitation in recommending this book to teens and adults alike!
