I wish I hadn't bought the other ones now (I reviewed a different set before) - these ones are much better. The patterns are better.
Anyway, my daughter is 4 now, she couldn't care less - she just likes to make a mess and waste paint.

I bought this as a presant for a 3 year old's Birthday and haven't actually asked how it was but the parent's said it was great. The rollers are soft foam and I could imagine that if the child pressed hard, you wouldn't be able to notice the pattern. Sorry couldn't be more help.
