Format:DVD
A social statement runs through this series. The 'workers' are thrust together with the 'toffs', and it's very enjoyable to see how the various relationships develop in a post-war Britain struggling to get back on it's feet. If I wished to be 'picky', I could say that many of the characters are stereotyped, but this doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the package. I'm currently well through the second series, so I haven't arrived at the finishing line yet, and I seem to recall from a fellow-contributor that a third series was made, but has not yet been released. Nevertheless, there are many storylines running through the series which maintains interest. There are some excellent performances to admire - and some which are frankly wooden. All this somehow adds to the charm of the series, and I've certainly no regrets about purchasing Series 1 and 2. If the 3rd series does emerge, I've no doubt at all that I'll complete the set. It's actually a relief to watch a series which doesn't contain the hellish camarawork which seems to bedevil all current offerings.

Magnificent presentation of post WW2 stories. All 6 DVDs in the complete series of Spoils of War are superb television. Truth within the experiences of families, socialists, tories, politicians, government, communities, capitalism and religion are portrayed within the context of the violent history of the second world war and the aftermath of the that world upheaval over almost the next two decades.
A truly unsung, yet brilliant television experience, deserving accolades!

Spoils of War again is another great series. bring it back on TV or make some more series like this one.

THE SPOILS OF WAR - SERIES 1 TO 3
DVDs are of good quality and to my surprise were playable for REGION 1 and did not need to be converted from PAL to NTSC (Canada-US). Excellent purchase.

Spoils of war
Found this to be a bit tedious,left in the air at the end.Wondered if there was a series three.
