Product Description

Chickeneye , Deejay Punk-Roc's 1998 debut became mired in pointless discussion about the age and background of its creator. The Brooklyn-born Merseyside resident has let his mastery of the beats do the talking on this superior follow-up, a bustling, eclectic conflagration of p-funk, breakbeat and old-school moves. He's sought vocal back-up this time from New York rap trio AKP who materialise on the pumping B-Boy groove of "Brooklyn Style" and the sleek falsetto voice of Austin Cole who propels party numbers like the infectious retro disco number "One More Bump". Punk-Roc is at his best mixing and matching styles rather than pastiching them as he does with the p-funk homage "Fat Gold Chain", making the punch opener "Ever Get The Feeling You've Been Cheated", a busy mix of funk, roughneck chatter and hip-hop, the best thing on an album which never marks time. --Mike Pattenden

Product Description

DEEJAY PUNK-ROC Spoiling It For Everyone (Brand new unplayed 2000 UK 12-track CD album follow-up to the much-acclaimed Chickeneye debut. This second album combines funky breaks smooth hip-hop cool beats and even a little jazz flavour and is now long out-of-print much like the man himself. A worthy addition to any collection and a taste of what might have been. Cartoon picture sleeve ISOM17CD)

4.0 out of 5 stars Accomplished second album 8 May 2007
By Mr. Stuart Bruce TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This is Punk-Roc's second album, and it's not as raw as "Chicken-Eye" which was released two years earlier. There's still some attitude here but added to the mix are some funky breaks, some smoother hip-hop and even some jazz... As big beat was on its way out this is a pretty diverse album, with richer more thought-out vocals and cleverer use of samples. It's a good listening album.

It's a shame that Punk-Roc seemed then to disappear without trace as judging by this progression, Deejay Punk-Roc was on his way from being just-another-bigbeat-act into being a really interesting artist.

3.0 out of 5 stars dee-jay punk roc plays it down 5 Sep 2000

Format:Audio CD
This is dee-jay punk rocs second album and i have to say its a little bit harder than the last album and not quite as much big beat. This i think makes it not quite as good as chikeneye which was an inspirational album for alot of copy cat Big beat stars. But dont get me wrong this is a Fine album with lots of cool beats a twists which would go down well at any party. Still not quite as good as 98's chickeneye but hay that was when big beat was at its peak.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deejay Punk Roc 22 Mar 2008
Format:Audio CD
This CD is little known but some tracks has been used in mixes by soulwax and similar production teams. Breakdance, funk, big beat, breakbeat- it hard to put it into a genre and there are few albums out there of this quality.

This CD is for that funky crowd that likes to boogie everywhere! It just makes you wanna get up and dance. Deejay Punk-roc has always put out some good stuff but every track on this album is good. I can't get enough of it. Get it now now now! "Blow my mind" is my current favorite song. Funky and reminiscent of a good hiphop house party...
