Some baby books can be bewildering, with lots of different theories on what do do about various problems (eg sleep, feeding ). This book just gives Dr Spock's theory which makes it refreshingly straight forward. His advice really works.It covers most of the child's life - baby to teenage years, from colic to sibling rivarly. So far the baby sections have proved invaluble. The book has been updated to cover all the latest safety research. Overall the book is a bit wordy but by far the best I have come across. Really does seem to cover everything.

My first point of reference with baby queries (after my Mum),

This book has been around for years (my Mum used it) but has been updated. The core message of the book is to 'trust your own instincts'. It offers matter of fact and common sense advice from the early days through to teenagers and covers feeding, behaviour, health, family issues and virtually anything you may ever need! I used it a lot when my children were babies and always found it useful and reassuring without being too prescriptive. I still refer to it now. It was the book I would look in first. Highly recommended for people who want a mix of emotional reassurance and information presented in a simple, matter of fact way.

Bought this for my daughter who has just had her first baby and is a useful reference source. Very thick book covering all topics needed, I am sure she will use it a lot over the years
