Product Description

Product Description

Musically not unlike The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, although Less Than Jake, MU330 and even Buck-O-Nine give you some idea of where this band are coming from! These young Ska-Punks from Cardiff have proved themselves live to rave reviews from the likes of Kerrang! and Fracture. This CD will now give the band a chance to lift their profile even further. "Is it Punk with horns?" or "Ska with Punk guitars?"... who cares... it's top notch Ska-Punk with a pop sensibility. The band somehow manage to combine energy, power and tunefulness. And to top the lot the band include an excellent Punk version of the old Village People classic "YMCA".

5.0 out of 5 stars one of those cds where you don't skip a track 18 May 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
shootin' goon are an exelent cardiff band and are heading for big things - i've seen them a few times live and they really get the croud up.
splootsiderocksteady is an exelent cd and all the tracks are worth listening to over and over again
this cd is one of my favorite ska cds and it easyly stands shoulder to shoulder with bands like reel big fish and less than jake
im sure if they were from america shootin' goon would be up there with the likes of reel big fish and less than jake but sadly the ska scene isnt quite as big over here in the uk as it is in the usa
i advise everyone who likes ska to buy this - and every one that likes punk to buy this - and everyone who has money to waste to buy this cd!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars explosive ska punk 31 July 2001
Format:Audio CD
One of the best modern day uk ska/punk bands around. They have an exciting brass section which they implement well with skanking guitar. As a live act, in my opinion, they are the best moonska act live, you can catch them on the 'new moon rising' tour. Other bands to check out lubby nugget, capdown , lightyear, if you like this genre of music.

By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I don't even generally like this kind of music myself - i'm a hip hop head - give me a bit of mos def or the roots any day. however, this is definitely the shiznitz, and everyone who hears it tends to agree. go buy it, it'll make you feel good. peace out my homeeeez.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin' Cardiff band 21 May 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This band rocks. If you like this record they are also well worth checking out live too. They cross over Ska and punk rock, with catchy melodies and excellent rhythms. Even if Ska's not your thing this band are hard not to like. Great debut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great British Ska! 8 Dec 2000

Format:Audio CD
Shootin' Goon have risen from the british underground to become one of the best new ska bands along with bands like Lubby Nugget following in their wake. An absolute stormer of a debut.
