5.0 out of 5 stars Forensics student dream, 23 Jan 2004

An exciting look into Details of deaths a most for avid forensic fans although some of the legal definitions are not appliable to UK. If you are studing Pathology you cannot do without this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for the squeamish!..............., 28 Aug 2006
By Ms. K. Thomson "adiorable88" (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this book at the same time I started my Forensic Course at College. When it first arrived I thought perhaps I wouldn't understand a lot of the text, but as I started to read it I noticed that it was written incredibly well which makes it easy to read and understand. It's not the type of book you would just read from cover to cover for fun, I found that I dipped in and out of it whenever I needed some reference to death. It starts with the history of Pathology and related subjects, then moves onto what happens to our bodies when we die, how we can identify human remains, forensic odontology, sudden deaths in adults, trauma and disease, blunt force injuries, sharp force injury, injury by gunfire, thermal injuries, asphyxia, drowning, electrical and lightning injuries, road traffic victims, mass disasters, injuries of brain and meninges, microscopic forensic pathology, deaths in childhood, deaths from drug abuse, aspects of alcohol, selected procedures at autopsy and finally the autopsy report.
Not forgetting that all these chapters are accompanied by a large selection of photographs depicting the various ailments that are being spoken about, this really isn't a book for the squeamish!
For those interested in the field of forensics and pathology then you cannot do without this book - it's incredibly detailed and so interesting to read.
