The complete fourth series of the classic satirical puppet show. No target was safe from the series' gunsights: Margaret Thatcher and her cabinet, the opposition, the Liberals, Ronald Reagan, the Pope and the Royal Family could all find themselves up for a painful ribbing on any given programme. The series was worked around the current week's news stories and featured a number of famous impressionists, including Chris Barrie, Rory Bremner, Phil Cornwell, Steve Coogan, John Culshaw, Harry Enfield and Kate Robbins.

This DVD contains all six episodes of Spitting Image from the 1987 series, at the time of the economic crash (it's not a surprise that some of the sketches are therefore just as relevant today as they were back then). Rubber puppet versions of politicians, royals, film stars and other famous figures appear in witty satirical sketches. The White House staff try to explain arms-dealing to an increasingly deranged Reagan, Thatcher tries to bring back the death penalty, Michael Jackson sings "Mad", Donald Sinden opens a school for over-acting, the royals appear as the rock band 'Queen', the horsemen of the Apocalypse sing a jolly song and Jeffrey Archer reads the Yellow Pages. Endless hilarity. Roll on the DVD release of Series 5.

If you think that this kind of DVD only appeals to us over 30s, you are soooo mistaken! My kids love it, and there's so much in it that still applies to today's political news that we won't get tired of it soon.
