When I first bought this, the Spitting Image TV series had come to an end and I was rather disappointed by the last three series (1994 - 1996) which were frankly nowhere near as good as anything from the older runs. So I was hoping this would be a chance to return to the hilarity of the earlier series. Unfortunately what we have here is an example of the way Spitting Image, in the mid-nineties, joined the money-minded tat industry it was supposed to be satirising. The puppets were hired out for panto, adverts. And, it would seem, this atrocity. From FA to Fair Play can't seem to decide whether it's a football video or a puppet show. Most of it just seems to be footage of football games with voice-overs, the occasional football-related sketch appearing. The humour is pretty spotty, will occasonally raise a smile. But who is this aimed at exactly? Football fans are more likely to buy proper football videos, and I'm sure Spitting Image fans would much rather see episodes or collections of sketches from the series. Now that the Spitting Image series are being released on DVD, this train-wreck is for collectors only.
