Review

Poppy Palin's work has the rare ability to invoke a sense of deep enchantment. Her poetic imagery and profound insights convey a fresh and magical view of the world, empowering and life-affirming. Her books coax the intuitive, natural, wildish self to surface and be recognised and integrated. Lisa Tenzin-Dolma, author and illustrator of Natural Mandalas and others In an era blighted by professional mystics, mercenary magicians and dodgy gurus all jostling for air-time, Poppy Palin is the real thing. Her writing is fluent and uncompromising. You know that she is drawing upon deep levels of earthly and unearthly wisdom. If I needed help and guidance I would turn to her. You can trust her - and what she writes - completely. Alan Richardson, author of The Inner Guide to Egypt and others

It took me a little while to get through this book as it's fairly long, but it was most certainly a worthwhile read. It's written in a nice narrative style that breezes along vividly.

Without going into too much detail, 'Spirit Walking' covers topics on the Fae, Angels (the non fluffy variety), Guardian spirits and spirit guides as well as (my personal favourite) how to build ones own 'astral office' as Ms Palin termed it. She mentioned this technique in one of her other books and I was overjoyed she went into more detail here as to how to do it!

I have to say kudos to Poppy Palin because her books are the only ones I've ever read that cover the Otherworld in such a down to earth and practical manner. I do hope she decides to write another as many of the topics discussed within 'Spirit Walking' are vastly comprehensive. The book is littered with lovely personal anecdotes from the author (the inclusion of which, I've always felt, defines a 'good book' without them from a 'great book' with them) -- such stories from the field also give the novice some depth to what is being discussed.

As usual Poppy Palin reassures her readers that working with the unseen should not be frightening but enlightening and beneficial, albeit her wonderful chapters on psychic protection are invaluable to any person wishing to travel into the Otherworld(s).

The penultimate chapter was interesting, and I admired Palins stance on abstaining from newspapers and television. However, I could not give up TV myself (good television that is! Nothing wrong with a bit of Lost or Veronica Mars).

I really liked her explanation of the various planes within the Otherworld, although I'm not sure I would describe it as so cut and dry... energy is mutable as are the unseen levels.

A definitive guide to help you understand just when and how you may be communicating, reading, feeling and interacting with other dimensions and spiritual energies. Small diagrams help you understand the concepts shared about energy fields and how we take and give this energy and can get dumped upon by others as well as sucked dry. Learn to protect your own energy field, understand what you connect with and learn from a well informed person just what you can do about it. This book will help you wake up to that which has been around you all of your life, be more in control and live life with better understanding. Helpful to anyone sitting in a spiritual development group.

Brilliant book, a bit of a heavy read but well worth it. Made a lot of things drop into place for me. With some good little exercises to really get you thinking.

Inspiring book that urges action 23 July 2009

I am on the last chapter of this book, and still thirsting for more.

Now, anyone who has been a medium or has worked with the spirits for any length of time and who has grown up in the craft or in a family where psychic has been encouraged, might find this book too simple.

But if you have seen spirits and do not know what else to do and want to learn more she can guide you in this book.

If you have heard things and want to find out if there is more, or if you have found a connection to spiritwork but have not done anything yet, this book will definitely help you.

This is a book that would greatly have helped me back when I began in 2006, but it still has valuable help and information for the questions I still have today.

Plenty of suggestions for growth. wonderful book.

The Very Best!!!! 12 Jan. 2008
By Nymphidium - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is one of the best books I ever read (on any subject!). The author makes common subjects like psychic protection enjoyable to review, and also introduces a lot of new ideas and techniques which are wonderful for the seasoned reader. The book is very easy to read and understand, but is unlike other "cookbooks" on the subject which always leave something to be desired as they strip away what's important (REAL soul connection to spirit) in order for them to make things easy to understand. This book helps you feel deeply connected to your own soul,to the spirit realm, and to All That Is. No doubt I will be re-reading this many many times and working with it carefully...it really is a "handbook". I LOVE this book and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Frustrating 11 Aug. 2012
By Heather - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I bought this book because it looked so promising. Then i began reading it. I wasn't more that a few pages into it when I came across the first (of many, many) typos, etc. This book if full of them. Did anyone actually proof read this before it went to print? I am now on my fifth try to read this book. It is very frustrating as I have to stop constantly and re-read a sentence over a few times because it just doesn't make sense. There are wrong words printed, extra words that should be there, and words missing. Makes for a very difficult read. I even started jumping around thinking that later in the book it might get better, but no matter which chapter I read it was full of mistakes.

Having said that, I think the information in this book is valuable if you can make sense of it. I have started making corrections in the book as I find them (on almost every page - there really are tons of them)in the hopes that eventually I will have corrected the book myself and then can read it from start to finish without putting it aside out of frustration.
