Product Description

Product Description

This collection of essays looks in detail at the provision of spiritual care in health contexts. It explores spirituality at an organizational level, as well as providing ethical and professional guidance for individual spiritual caregivers. The contributors show how chaplains and other religious professionals can avoid the pitfalls of a woolly notion of spirituality that is all things to all faiths. The practical significance of the major religious narratives as long-standing interpretations of spirituality is emphasized. Christian, Jewish, Muslim and "multi-faith" scenarios are each covered separately to reflect the different social-cultural systems in which care can be provided. The book seeks to be a reflective tool for religious professionals, policy-makers and health-service managers seeking to improve the spiritual care of today's diverse patient populations.
